| For our sport to ensure it's future would need thousands of new fanciers not a hand full, many fanciers would, and some are, encouraging prospective fanciers and helping them in many ways, the problem is we are losing far, far, more through natural causes and many others through frustration with the sports problems not being addressed.
Just as you never now see hop scotch and marbles soon pigeon racing will go the same way.
Attention should have been paid 50 years ago but the selfish fanciers were not interested.
Regards. |

Regards. The sport is growing in some countries! Money, ambition, not much changes! But reading the majority of your posts extolling gloom and doom and the end of it, what a turn off for any one reading this Forum! Peel Bros and others on here do well and are competitive. So you may be right. So what? In the mean time let others enjoy what they can!!!!! They know the odds. Their choice wether or not to participate. Encourage not discourage!! Enough from me anyway! |

| Not doom and gloom, but reality.
Through the same approach displayed to many potential problems we have a world where much of it, wild life and the climate etc; is threatened, no long term thought only we are Alright Jack. (In the past)
You mention the Peele Brothers, bet they would rather be competing against 60 or seventy club members.
The actual facts regarding our sport of pigeon racing in our country indicates that if matters do not drastically change many organisations will fold due to the costs involved and loss of membership.
The total membership of the RPRA is not representative of active members.
Some just pay subs to retain an interest others so they can serve and be involved in the running of the sport.
No one knows the number of actual lofts involved.
The Hall Report clearly stated the present set up is not fit for purpose.
Some fanciers are forming partnerships with three or four members, so instead of four lofts competing you have one.
Then we have all the raptor and health problems and losses that cannot be explained on an increasing basis etc;
Not doom and gloom, Hal, REALITY.
Regards.

Happy to except I'm guilty, at times in the doom & gloom department here Hal but reality bites hard at times if one is truthful unfortunately & one must also remember on average life is going along the same lines for many I suggest, sadly. Things could thou now improve maybe for those mixed up in the Brexit fiasco etc as now they have a charlatan type fighting the fight so to speak for them. |

| Would hold judgement on our new PM Knackered.
Did a good job as Mayor of London, things gone down hill since.
Under that mop of unsophisticated hair is a calculating brain, lets just see how he uses it.

July 21 56 years ago got married in Guisely, Yorkshire. Nothing stays the same. Cannot compare. Pigeons and the way they are looked sfter has changed drastically over the years. No point in running it down. 12 member club is better than a 5 member club. Reality? In my opinion as you quote the Hall report, and nothing changed why did you not use your communication skills and start to get members, disgruntled or not, To start another Federation for the county or organization? If something is broken and cannot be fixed to satisfaction, get new! |

| Understand fully where you are coming from Hal.
If you are not happy then change things until you are.
Problem, you need help based on the facts.
Unless there are enough actually concerned to an extent that they are willing to get together to change matters you cannot do anything.
The facts at the moment regarding the sport over here, it is run by a set of selfish individuals with no real concern other than maintaining their position on the Council.
I agree things change as time goes on, one would have thought for the better.
I said 45 years ago, go the continental way and the pigeons and the sport would suffer, this after corresponding with a continental fancier who told me what was going on with their pigeons and sport.
We now have pigeons needing constant medication both treatment and preventative, pigeons flown out after the yearling stage in many cases, fanciers using artificial stimulants pigeons not able to return from a few miles Etc; Etc;
When the fanciers in Scotland started losing pigeons to raptors I said now was the time to do something about it, years later we had the RAPTOR ALLIANCE which the proposers said would solve the problem, I wrote to the General Manager and said it would be a waste of time and money, he said we would have a result by November, result, still waiting years after, result, waste of time and money.
I gave the references with regard to the Protocol in the Human Rights Law which gives the right to a person to enjoy their possessions on their own property without interference which may give fanciers the right to kill raptors on their own property if they were attacking their pigeons, the Manager said he preferred their lawyers opinion to mine.
Result thousands of pounds wasted on the Alliance thousands of pigeons killed by raptors.
Could give many more suggestions made over the years to improve the sport for both pigeon and fancier, like talking to a BRICK WALL, too many just content to let anything go as long as it does not directly affect them, and anything that affects the commercial boys ??????????????????????????.
Regards.

| Very interesting. Have to agree. Have to stay in bubbles of themselves, most fanciers. |
