| Think oldstrain they work it out time into distance overall, overall distance divided by overall time.
Irrespective of any other consideration you should be proud of the performance of both, just proves Alfie knows the works.

To be honest with you guys, I just got a bit fed up with all the bickering and backbiting. However, I have come to realise that this is probably the kind of attitude one could expect from any type of forum! The problem with pigeon men is that they all think they are right, and nobody else's ideas but their own could have any truth in them. These are my findings only and my opinion. But anyway, as I am here, Hil and I moved into a lovely bungalow in a private cul de sac on the outskirts of Gloucester. The garden is just about big enough for our needs but the bungalow is a bit small, or at least a bit small for all the stuff we brought with us from a four and a half acre organic smallholding!! I have a really good well working semi-commercial cement mixer that works on mains for sale if anybody wants it. I am happy to take £60 if anybody is interested - it must be worth at least twice that. OK - the pigeons - we got off to a very slow start as we didn't move in here until the end of March, then we had to build somewhere for the birds to live. It was nearly the end of April before we got any eggs, let alone any babies. Of course we were too late to put them on the darkness and nearly too late to get them anything like ready for the young bird racing season. In the end, we did quite well, ending up with 21 young birds all of which had had several races and most had flown out to 100 miles plus. Our last two races were the most memorable. We had had some seconds and thirds in the club before that, but the penultimate race we did we won the club, and the very final race, not only did we win the club, but we topped the Fed with the same bird as the week before. The parents of this particular bird that was first in the club and topped the fed has some really good quality Mark Gilbert blood on both sides (well, not actually his blood but the blood of his racing family!!) We bred a small bunch of really late youngsters just to top up the amount of yearlings we will have to race next year. We have given them half a dozen training tosses up to now, and hope to give them more experience in the next few weeks, weather permitting. That's about it. Hope you are all OK. Phil |

| i agree to an extent what you say phil, pigeon men are very set in their ways, right or wrong, they will not listen to advise ......plus i think the whole pigeon keeping thing is one of bickering and disagreeing , altho there are still some good people involved in it .
i dont think our small forum does have much disagreeing or falling out, yes we dont always agree, and do have a different opinion sometimes, but in general i think we have respect for each others opinions even though we dont always agree with them.
we get to know each other and accept each others views.
anyway, good to have you back phil, |

| Yes Phil. Many disagree with anothers comments. Many also agree. If one person states something then the ones who agree have tried it and it works. The ones who have followed or tried the advice disagree if it does not work for them. Australia, Canada, UK etc, can not be similar as to other countries. Obviously. However, I learn from other people on here various methods etc,. As stated some work some do not. My take on it all is this. Keep racing and caring for the birds as simple as possible. Intelligence and quality of the birds will soon assert itself. One way or the other. UK is kicking up about immigrants. Here in one sector alone, mushroom farmers are 16,000 workers short. They come here, usually from Mexico, earn minimun wage. $14 and hour. After the work period is over, they return to Mexico. Many more examples of workers needed here. They do not take jobs away from other people. Days are gone when if one stole a loaf of bread he would be deported to Australia! |

Most Hal hopefully would agree on average, that certain type immigrants etc can add some value to ones society overall. Illegal types thou I suggest & especially those that just tend to rort the system, no matter where it is will find few friends I suspect I'm except for those that play the same game in the end. |

| on that basis hal, it would be nice if those economic scavengers who storm our shores went back home once they had done the work we had in store for them, but sadly this isnt the case in the uk.
they travel half way across the world for a free house and free money . |

| The people of the UK (I iincluded) complained about them years ago also. Colonials. There is a problem with them here but on a much smaller scale. They cross the border in to Canada from the US. Quebec gets the majority of them. Most are from South America. They are detained. Quite often deported. Trump does not want them. Quebec has banned face coverings, other religious attire/symbols, in the Province. Most agree with them. Canadians. The workers imported pick apples/grapes/tomatoes etc,. Plus mushrooms and other veggies. No one else wants to do it. Too demeaning. Too labour intensive. Automation of the work is in progress. Should bring prices down but will be some years yet. |

| Neve come across any bickering and back biting on the forum, found some allergic to the truth irrespective of facts.
Would be a complete waste of time if everyone agreed.
It is only by confronting the truth when it is detrimental to the sport and getting rid of those responsible that the sport will survive, be they friends or foe, ONE MANS MEAT etc;

| One big problem.
Who will do the work these people presently do.
We have fruit etc; rotting because none of our unemployed idlers will do the work in harvesting them.
They at least provide a much needed service, and do not have houses etc; for nothing, they are put up by their employers in many cases.
It is the idlers born and bred here that are the problem.
Regards.

| its a myth that immigrants do the work our lazy home bred shirkers do not want to do ......its a myth they are good workers.
truth is they either claim benefits, or take jobs and do the least amount of work to get them through the day........a family member of mine works for the NHS , and says they are bone idle, and based on my own observations i believe they are .

| Come on, our own society is the most permissive and progressively, by the pc mob, becoming the laughing stock of the world.
Anything abnormal goes, anything normal, unacceptable.
I disagree with hiding ones identity and looking anything but human, however, many, although in my opinion entitled to their beliefs, should conform to our basic standards of behaviour ( although having said that our standards are falling well short of any so called civilised society).
We are in a very privileged position regarding the standard of living taking the world as a whole.
Our NHS would not function without foreign workers, in all departments, my son has worked for over 25 years in the NHS and says the most idle are our own workers.
I worked for one of the largest building company and all work was inspected and only paid for on actual results, cannot see how any employer would allow anyone working for two different companies.
All employers, other than those run by the government, would not have idlers being paid for doing nothing, along of course with the utilities who have one worker and another to hold their hand.
Would do some people good to sit down count their blessings and pray for those who are in dire situations (through only being born in the wrong place) throughout the world.
Regards. |
