After noon all wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction I’m after a van loon cock sadly my last planet brother cock passed away start of the week

my brother had Eijerkamp-van Loons a while ago, he was cutting down on all his birds.......ill ask if he kept them or got rid, or if hes still got them and wants rid of a cock .

Still have some of the early Planet Bros type pigeons down here etc Boosey      in retirement mode. Cracking type pigeons on their day & have left there mark in many lofts down here. Now still remember the day as such I travelled 2000 odd miles of sorts to see the original imports leaving their mark here. The 2 main ones of importance at the time, had me scratching my head I'm in disbelief. One was an absolute cracker pigeon in type in my view & the other one would have been at home down at the local railway landing amongst the feral's as such looking for a feed .

The ones I handled etc Boosey come straight out of Planet Bros loft as such & that was why I was rather disappointed to a degree when I handled one of them .

Could be an idea going through the RPRA 1 loft auction birds pedigrees,  you might find a well bred cheep van loon stock bird there.

Some will go for peanuts I suggest Boosey Then one the other the hand one could require a gold mine to purchase others maybe. Lot 1 & 4 at the moment there the same battler type has the top bid in for both when I last looked & one of my first choices is battling to get a bid & it finished around 34th in the final race for what I remember & it was also bred by Louella, by its pedigree I believe    .

bang on steve alot of good racers who's nest mates never performed turned out to be exceptional breeders could well be worth a chance in the bargain basement

Thing is there not going for peanuts. Everyone is spending their money they had for the now not happening shows

just buy a good bird, the pigeon doesn't know or care what breed it is. As long as they are paired to birds bred for competing at the same distances you're looking for.

I think it's more important that they are similar handling, same bodied birds then you tend to get yb's same type although sometimes throwbacks can turn up in the nest.

Wouldn't buy a bird blind for fear of it not feeling right in the hand. Can't understand the success of the big internet sales just hoping you liked the bird once you got it out the box. Most of the sales photos are doctored anyway, maybe not the RPRA one in this case.

Mine are Ray compared to the top 3/4    . 3 for less than 200 pound etc     the last time I looked in there .

That just couldn't be etc Barnie doctored  photos etc . That being said thou a bit of a feat somewhat I suggest, those that did all the photo work with the sale of ours in question. So credit due where credit due from my perspective here .
