| That man, was it right to call and hate him? Let's call him Ken Sykes. Though that isn't the real name.
Ken was a fit six foot. Recently having taken an early retirement at forty-five years of age. This after many years working in the fire brigade. He was a good worker. Often having done way over what was expected trying to help one. Indeed at much danger to himself and over the call of duty.
He had always been good at sports, excelling as a swimmer. Which he regularly did, with other fitness exercises. Indeed he would swim in the river till late in the year when the cold water made him bade farewell till warmer days. But away, away from the bend in the river and it's eddy.
He had a good nature and many friends. Often those, he went and socialise with at the church. Ken liked country walks and taking advantage of fruits and berry's etc. of a benefit.
Often in summer holiday times, three to five women would sit at the bend of the river having a chin wag and natter. Being only two hundred yards from the road where they lived. Putting not only the local troubles but the world to the right. Taking in the clean air while the kids splashed around in shallow water over of pebbles and a little sand. This fell back about twenty yards to where the bank rose nearly four feet higher where the ladies would sit. In days gone by it had been a right place for washing the cloths etc. which was probably why there was a shallow patch away from the main river and its eddy.
Sometimes they'd give a 'Telling off' to Ken, and to mind his own business. For he'd mention, nigh every time he saw the kids, aged about seven, getting close to the actual river its self. 'Ladies' he'd say, 'mind the kids because that river has an Eddy there, where the river swirls back', pointing out to the strong river current. 'There is a sharp drop, cliff-like of about twenty foot of water'.
The ladies would mutter and pull faces to each with a scornful and knowing looks. Ken's parting warning was similar every time, being something like 'Eddies are far from safe; for they can send you at speed into a strong current, so watch out for the kids getting too close'! 'Oh go away Ken, we've heard it all before. Why! We have been here and doing as such since we were young girls. We don't need you to tell us how to look after our kids' Maybe you should have done more with your own'. That taunt hurt and was uncalled for. Ken had spent very much time and patience with his kids. Was always on hand for them regardless of what'. Yes, his wife had left him and started up a house with an old flame. She had been unfaithful and forgiven a few times. Though he had been a good husband and father to his kids. Yet the ex-wife had spread untrue gossip, as such, which the Ladies fervently loved to gossip about. The truth and realism being of no account. A story was just that, and the juicier they could make it via adding or subtracting the better. Ken was still very close to his three kids. Two boys and a girl. All married now with kids. He doted on his grandchildren and saw them very often. Yes, they stayed in the village about ten miles away, where they had grown up.
One day, walking near to the river a tragedy struck. Ken first off heard the commotion and screaming of women, no more than a hundred yards away. He turned, and saw a boy struggling up river bobbing up and down, drowning. His mother flailing in the deep water too. While on the bank. three other women were shouting for help, helplessly.
Ken didn't help. He couldn't. It was too late. Soon they were gone.

One can lead a horse to water, but that doesn't mean it will have the intelligence factor to just drink it for the over all benefit, unfortunately . Will finish the story here by saying now 11 days here on the trot in a local sense with double doughnut type figures with the virus & I just wonder where Boris/Trump would be now, if they both had acted in a similar type fashion at the start of the year as us convict types here & in a local type scenario . & take care. |

| You can mock when someone is concerned, but there is always a day of reconning.
Just read the Bible.

| Why were the women i? Why raise voices and insult him? Why no calmly say. 'Yes we hear you Ken, Thanks' and go back to nattering and putting the world to rights? Indeed, if true, why are people - in general - like that? |

| a lot of talk of bidens gang fiddling the voting, a lot of proof too.........the powers that be behind the scenes needed trump out of the way, he was too much of a loose cannon .
biden is senile , he is merely a figure head who wont last the 4 year term, those behind the scenes know this, hence his vice president being a black female, who will step into his shoes as the first black female president of the usa.......they knew the time wasnt right for the usa to accept a black female with a vote, but it wouldnt need a vote to install her if / when biden becomes incapable ..... |

Agree fully, Biden is just a figure head to a degree etc David But what a huge slap in the face to poor old Trump I suggest that more chose him than Mr ego man there. Supreme court there will in the end sort it all out I suspect & what a hit Trump will take, if those he just placed there go against him & his crowd in the end . End of the day the whole thing was a bit of a circus & a farce from my perspective, but 145 million odd people decided to vote there fortunately so credit to all I say in the name of the democracy system & all it's benefits for Mr & Mrs average on average. ***** |
