| during last week i spent some time building new nest boxes, as the section i was going to fit them in wasn`t as big as the section next door, and i wasnt going to have a lot of birds in there, i decided the boxes didnt need to be "full size", so i made them to my own sizes ..........24" x 12" x 12", which would give them plenty of room. so i made the boxes out of 12ml ply, with a 6 ml ply back, the 6ml was easy enough to saw through, but sawing through 12ml ply with a hand saw isnt easy ....... , so i was happy to make one set of four each day the weather was fine. just as i was on the last box, seeing light at the endof the tunnel, injury struck.......i banged the sides to square the box up before fitting the ply back, and there was a one inch panel pin stuck out, which i must have tapped in slightly, and forgot about, anyway i felt it stick in my hand and saw a small point stuck out of my thumb joint.......thinking it was a small piece i pulled it out, only to find an inch long nail had gone into my hand , had to do a temporary repair to my hand, continue with the boxes...... , its ok now but it did hurt later on that evening will be removing box perches and fitting nest boxes tuesday or wednesday hopefully, then letting the birds go together, as the weather seems midler now . heres a few pictures of two boxes built up, and the wood cut for the third, all three are now built , thank goodness ...... |

| very tidy, coat of wood finish on them and they'd make nice bookcases for indoors David:D Them hands look far too soft, no wonder they easily get damaged |

| Like the fact that there are no nooks and cranies, always liked straight forward clean cut next boxes.
Have you used Nail It ?. Lads at work swore by it when it came out.
You could have done the right thing in not rushing things, weather like we are experiencing is good for nothing.
Good luck with the finishing off.
Regards. |

| i used wood glue and 1 inch panel pins misty ........i wont be adding fronts as i can put another bowl in if they have ybs, and they lay again, rather than them lay on the floor etc .
plus its easier to scrape out the box and keep it clean, i dont have fronts on any of my boxes now, found it easier . |
