| Well, it started, dinner time this Wednesday past. I received the expected call from a consultant of Leicester Hospital. A quick question about how I was feeling, etc. - It was just an opening to settle one, I guess. Then said the good news is my Liver Cancer hasn't spread and that they are pleased about that. (I thought 'So am I' lol)
Then he said, As for the lumps in my lungs– or such – they are concerned. It is cancer. A different cancer from the liver's. That I would be got in touch within six weeks or so for an examination, and then they would be able to decide on a way forward.
He then asked if I would prefer to go to Leicester hospital or Kettering. Said I cared not, Whichever is best for the hospitals in these overworked times. So he said would Kettering be OK? I answered 'Sure, its less than a mile away'. So the phone call ended.
Within an hour, I was contacted via the wife's phone by Kettering hospital, saying 'they'd tried to contact me, to no avail'! Joyce said, 'He is sitting aside me; should I pass him over? Lol. Well, I was to go to Hospital Thursday and get Covid tests. I was too isolate. I was given a time to be at the Hospitals Sat Morning for the examination procedures etc..
I did as told. Was at Hospital early – Before 9: 30 would you believe! Night shift! I went through loads of past and presented happenings, Tablets, etc., ¾ of an hour.
A couple of surgeons came to tell me the procedure. I said, I couldn't care really to hear. It was what you decide is best etc. and that's good enough for me'!
I was to have a camera down throat: recording. I could watch on a Big Screen— I should co - coa, not my cup of tea that! A pipe like thing that pierces my lungs from the outside into the lungs, to loosen - whatever. I forget. Then another tubing inside the lung to take and bring up examples. The Camera was also to record inside my lung.
There was one procedure to be done before the next (two). Then me. But all the equipment had to be sterilised. Before me. I decided to have a sleep, but the nurses moving and bumping beds around didn't help much on that score.
Well, I was eventually taken to the theatre for the procedure. Told the routine and what not to do and what they would be doing. I told them, 'Fine, but I'm not bothered as I will be asleep!
The nurse smiled at me, and I asked, 'Is it all right if I sleep'? Theyall smiled 'Yes'! They placed a ring in my mouth, and I settled down. Felt the first tube touch the inside of my mouth. I was away and slept right the way through. Woken up to be told I couldn't half snore. Said they had never seen the like before!
Time passes quicker when asleep. I never felt or heard anything.
Still was not allowed a drink, or even to swirl my mouth with water and spit it out! I hadn't had oat to eat or drink since Thursday. I was told I would bring blood up for 3 -4 days or even more. And some brown stuff. I didn't take note, nor am I bother what the brown stuff is/will be. But today, no blood coming up. Nor the Brown stuff. A doctor – a friend - texted me. Thursday, the gist saying 'You beat the Liver cancer, now such a pity that you have Lung Cancer'!
Still, it is what it is and will be, I guess. But feel OK. Today so far and happy. Joyce is, too ... having a chore of looking out constantly for me, lol! |
