| Animal and Plant Health Agency · Housing measures to protect poultry & captive birds from #AvianInfuenza are coming into force across Norfolk, Suffolk and parts of Essex at one minute past midnight on 12 October 2022. This means that, from this time, it will be a legal requirement to all bird keepers across this region to keep their birds indoors, or where this is not practical, to take steps to separate them from wild birds. Keeping your birds undercover away from wild birds is vital to minimise the risk of them becoming infected with avian influenza by wild birds. But housing alone is not the only solution – it remains essential that you follow strict biosecurity measures to reduce the risk of disease spreading to your birds. https://www.gov.uk/.../housing-order-introduced-in... |

| by what ive heard george, there has never been a case of racing pigeons catching this "avian flu"
as usual with government sand agencies they go over the top and is just an excuse to have the pigeon fancier jumping through hoops, and who knows, a way of banning pigeon keeping / racing
if so the rpra are in on it too |

| they say wild birds carry it or contract it george, but ive no idea if they do or not , as far as i know its poultry and that type of bird, all the info ive read says a racing pigeon has never tested positive for it ......
weve had this avian flu for years, but for some reason this year they seem to be making a bigger issue of it, looks like they have just jumped on the covid band wagon |

| Thousands of sea birds died with this virus off the Northumberland coast, was on local news and awful to see. Hundreds of them floating around dead or thrashing about drowning, beach and rocks littered with them. Puffins, Guillemots, Terns, Eider Ducks, Gulls, all types of seabirds, over 5000 reported so far. I think it affects the web-footed type birds more than any other for some reason. We were plagued by magpies round here for years but hardly see any now so just wondering if these have been affected too? |
