As far as I am concerned there is no such thing as an expert in our sport. There is nothing as far as i am aware that has not been covered a hundred times previously. Money, luck, advantage, all play a part in results and some enjoy more than their fair share of all. But will be interesting, even if you only get a laugh or two. There could be a right of reply that may be interesting. Get your thinking cap on George and lets go. Regards. |

How many of the aids to win products do you use ?. Do you do all the work yourself or have help ? Do you exchange youngsters off your best with like fanciers ? Think in some cases all the fancier does is supply the money and tell the helpers what to do. Then there are a few more after they reply. Think what they will do George is ask the fanciers which questions they want to answer and ignore the other ones. Regards. . |

| Got mine today George, no questions yet.
Club results variable, some with decent members and good birdage others, who I feel sorry for, with low single figures.
See Parkinson got a new loft, think with less members he may get the odd card, he has access to all the wonderful aids to win etc;.
Other than that the best part is joe's joke.
Regards.

The last time I wrote an article ; was THE OUTLOOK, page 13 BHW OCT 16th 2016. Many letters followed but decided to call it a day because I was sick of the whole set up with no one worried as long as they could fly their pigeons. They always published my articles and letters irrespective of my comments being less than complimentary. The last time I wrote was when having a bad time mentally and it was not complimentary but true, but should have been presented in a better manner. Was not published and I do not blame them. Just wish notice of what I and my two friends Mike on his Hill and Steve Spinks said would happen to the sport if changes were not made. Regards. |

What amazes me George is how they can make a profit with so few actual RPRA members. Subscriptions on the balance sheet indicate a membership of around 10,000 yet the RPRA claim 21,000 members. No letters last week, just looked up correspondence I had with Parkinson when ETS saga was in full swing. He thought letters to the editor should be banned and those like him up to the kneck in commercialism have all the say. 99% of the present content will be of little interest other than to those involved Think the adverts are holding things together at the present time. Will still get it if only for a laugh. Not seen the Racing Pigeon for years, wonder how that is doing. Regards. |

Think they have changed the format George. Thinking about the BHW in all probability the fanciers in other organisations that have no publication of their own will be buying also I think some from abroad. The HALL RPORT advised a complete re-think on the content, said too many photos etc; of no real interest to the majority. Never mind Parkinson and his no letters, we need some new and up to date scribes with no axe to grind nor involved in commercialism. Regards. |

Hope there is a JOE's JOKE. Best bit every week. As a test of the present situation will write an article of how I feel after many years observing the demise of our sport and see if is published. Regards. |

| BHW can only be as good as the scribes submissions: no-one gets paid it's voluntary so what comes in gets printed. Sometimes a scribe takes the time to do a loft report or an article outside of race results makes things a bit more interesting but I would imagine in the main it's a thankless job. Heard of scribes packing in because they get criticised over vague reports or poor photographs, always someone will pull you down but don't step up themselves, that's life in general. Undoubtedly some can promote their more commercial pals but a good fancier can see through this. But the magazine would cease if it wasn't for people submitting stuff for free. Not like most other publications; even The Sun pays its journalists The income from Advertisments is what keeps any publication afloat, daily newspapers, weekly magazines, all the same. The BHW can't survive without adverts relying on sales alone unless the cost increases considerably. It's no co-incidence the cost has jumped up and the number of adverts has dropped by more than 60% my guess. Years ago there was always plenty fanciers advertising late youngsters for sale, this time of year every week. Only a handful now and again seem to advertise. Same as loft manufacturers, basket makers, corn merchants, clock sellers, everyone cutting back their adverts. Cost gets passed on to end user. |
