Got mine George, saw the article on the young lad and thought well done, until reading the rest involved. The rest of no interest at all. Think remember barnie saying it was good for lining the baskets. Agree with that. Regards. |

Pretty much same as usual George, skip over a lot of it, look to see who is wining in clubs more than 10 members, not many of those. Always find something of interest, and then line the training baskets now the young birds have started. No complaints from me for something costing less than a bar of chocolate |

| Looking back in respect of most sporting activities those that have survived in any meaningful way have changed with the times.
Afraid our sport is not as sporting as 80 years ago for both pigeon and fancier.
Robot pigeons, Robot fanciers.
There are still good grass root fanciers but afraid a dying species.
The fanciers in their 60s etc; during the 1960s would not recognise it as the same sport and not for reasons of improvement but rather the opposite.
Been in the wrong hands for far too long now beyond redemption.
SAD.

| The most difficult part of progressing any sport or commercial enterprise is to be of interest to as many people as possible and from all walks of life.
Our sport for various reasons has little to offer to the vast majority of today's population.
This becomes apparent year on year.
The sad thing I feel is that many genuine fanciers have packed in for various reasons relative to how the sport is conducted and whereas for many years fancier's sons/daughters took up the sport does rarely happen today on a regular basis.
Regards.

| Good guess!!! It won't be about the pigeons Knackered but more about having their company logo and adverts plastered on the transporters. When you think about it the vehicles cover a lot of miles around the season, gets the advertisements shown over hundreds of miles, there and back both sides of the road plus anywhere they stop for rest or fuel. Win win situation for all hopefully |

Win win situation for all hopefully Would do nothing whatsoever to save the sport.. What is wanted is more fanciers who actually participate on a regular basis. If there was any benefit it would only be sparce and in favour of the unlikely advertisers. Any further income from doing so would only increase that from the BHW and that has done the sport a fat lot of good. The only thing it has done is keep the BHW afloat and paying staff wages and pensions etc; Not done one thing to make the sport more attractive and acceptable in these trying times. HEADS IN SAND. | Got my BHW today George.
Found only one item of interest to me, by Philippe Martin.
Rest just results and adverts along with the numerous photos, not forgetting the adverts.
Not even a Joes's joke, now there's a laugh.
Regards. |

- no letters page either
Letters page used to be the best part of the BHW gave fanciers their chance to have a go at any aspect of the sport and they did allow both sides equal coverage in a dispute etc; Parkinson was against it but wanted to put HIS views down other's throats and still does. Coud be of course fanciers are sick of the whole setup and cannot be bothered. Perhaps Joe cannot see anything funny anymore and who can blame him ?. Regards. |
