Another find

had another find last night on our late night walk, someone had left a metal tool box out for the scrap man, had a look in and there was a couple of wood planes, screw drivers, spanners etc etc

needless to say i didnt leave it for the scrap man ...........

any old iron you gotta love a skip i just cant walk past one without a peek built a pigeon loft from the contents of a skip once when sheets of ply were inside big off cuts brand new ,the mrs always likes to step on the gas when she see's a skip but like i say to her "love this is my type of shopping"

mine too darren, years ago lynn and me used to buy and sell cars, one of the things we did was to have leaflets made and would go round putting them on cars or through letter boxes where there was a car in the drive abandoned ......... " beggers" we used to call them, i still cant drive past a begger now without being tempted to knock the door

we had loads of them george, its amazing how many people leave them in the drive of on the street when the mot /insurance runs out, and will take scrap price for them ........ in those days we were buying them for £30 - £40

couldnt buy a tyre for that now .

Magic moments O/S being a Steptoe type etc pleasure is unbelievable at times I found. One man's trash is another man's treasure type thing .

so true knackered, ive had a many a treasure out of a skip .........

about 25 years ago i learnt how to repair televisions/videos (self taught) and had an agreement with two council tips at york, i`d go twice a week in my van and load it up with all the tv`s people had taken to the tip, and 90% of them would work, others would need minor attention and be up and running..... only a small % were actually scrap .

its a throw away society now, no one thinks about repairing things, but on the other hand to repair them sometimes isnt much cheaper than buying a new one ........

Certainly is a throw away type society David as you say these days. Putin & Israel start dropping the big ones we may all be back in the repair business to maybe hopefully survive, perhaps.

I make my shoe laces out of several snapped ones, not bothered about the colours, just tie them together till they're long enough
