What natural products do you use ?

David, my conclusion of herbal tea is, to gave the pigeons the herbs, that they have found in wild,to help cure their diseases , as they are now taken from the wild , and put into a loft, we must bring nature back to them.
Help their natural immunity, with natural herbs.

Just for fun, let us share our knowlege of natural products.

GARLIC - Worms, natural antibiotic ,
VINEGAR - Bacteriacide
HONEY - Energy
ALOA - Dont know , maybe canker ???
SUGAR- Energy
CAYANE PEPPER - Dont know , maybe cocci and worms??
EUCALYPTUS OIL - Maybe Ornithosis or Mycoplasmosis??
COD LIVER OIL- Repair wear in joints ??
Would be interresting to get more opinions , and more products uses.

hi niel. interesting post.............these are things which i have used

for the past two years i used garlic in water, never had any illness, this year for some reason i stopped using it and the birds have never been right and always looked hunched/off.

ive also used mollasses which is a by product of suggar/sugar cane etc which i would emagine gives energy to our birds....at one point the original aviform had mollasses in it but they removed it.

since about christmas ive used cider vinegar in the water but as far as im concerned it hasnt done anything and my birds caught a bacterial problem with the digestion system.

recently ive started to add honey to the drinking water and also continued to add the cider vinegar at the same time........will wait to see if this does anything.

also use salt and ordinary vinegar in the bath water,

hi all , with not having my loft in my garden i have to take water down to the loft
so my water is left standing in a water container over 7 days till it runs out , my yb have never had ybs
so with the water standing the chemicals have time to evaporate every regions water tastes differant it,s some thing ive always done . so leave your water standing for 24 hrs before giving it to your birds .

garlic is also a good source of purifying the blood.i use orego stim which has herbs in it but also use pigeon tonic which purifys the blood with iron and is very good for the moulting bird.

Garlic should not be underestimated , i also believe in the saying : To much of a good thing is bad. But giving it say 3 times a week, i would certainly agree on that one.
