Feeding before you pair up

Hi what do you do to prepare your stock birds for pairing up feed wise not treatment, Do you increase the feed ,weaken it, add barley or what?
Lets hear how you do it. phil

never liked barley for some reason, have read on occasions its good for pigeons but have also read/heard it has very little benefit to pigeons.....so because i dont like it ill go along with it being no good.

under normal circumstances i would add at least 50% Barley for 2 weeks and wheatgerm oil 2/3 times per week before pairing

didnt add the barley this year and it was notable that the birds took approx 4/5 days longer to lay

what feed to you give before the 50/50 mark...?

it dosent seem to have effected the hatch though mark so maybe its a good thing

was going to put mine onto full breeding mix when i pair up, dont know if this is right or not...

think the extra time feeding/treading etc while waiting for the hens to lay did us a favour with the fertility rate, will probably do this again from now on (if forecast is cold), but to be honest the birds are never really overweight but not having barley they were defo slower

just finishing off the last of the moulting mix

do you use any depurative mixes during racing mark or do use use a diet mix or neither....

diet mix on a saturday/sunday then 50/50 mon/tue then 100%

mark, i know you are a widowhood flyer, but have you any experience of flying natural.......and is the method of feeding different...?

when we won national and the combine race they were all sitting 5 to 7 days, the national winner had topped the fed 4 weeks before whilst still on widowhood

I thought feeding and pairing was to do with birds perhaps it may be the non featherd ones they are talking about
