Sorry you guys but it is a load of tosh! see my post earlier today. My offer of £1000 still stands for anyone who can apply some LOGIC to eye sign, supply some actual/ factual eveidence that there is a science in the theory, It can only ever be a Phsudo Science at best, and there has NEVER been a scientific study to test the theory. I have researched many theories in my time, and rubbished a few but I must admit that eye sign is the hardest one to crack. It is a 'Black Art' handed down from older fanciers to new starters without any evidence that what they are practising is purely guesswork in trying to establish something factual. Again I repeat, if anyone can apply any LOGIC or factual evidence to support the theory, then try me and take my money. Every eye sign enthusiast KNOWS somebody who can walk into a strange loft and pick out National Winners or excellent breeders. How many eye sign enthusiasts have won a national? surely an eye sign loft must only contain a few birds, because all the rubbish has been deselected by eye sign and I would gamble there is still a load of rubbish in many of these lofts. Sorry if I seem opinionated on this but I have never met anyone in 60 odd years of pigeons who could support this theory and all the books in the world are still only gessing at a theory. Chanco. |

| Hi Chancos I think calling eye sign a load of tosh is wrong, i know its ur opinion but a few fanciers do try and understand it, like many theories ie wing, feet etc. me im not sure if any of them are accurate. myself i like a bird to have clean alert sparkling eyes, level wings apple bodied warm feet, that is my opinion,i could be wrong in what i look for but i would not call anybodys theory tosh, its what they believe in and what they think helps them, i know one or two lads and ladies on here are interested in the eye, yes i agree if birds could be soughted purley on the eye, then not many would be kept, but also dont you think that could also apply to any theory Ken |

| I agree with all of the above posts, everything is just THEORY. Or is it ? Im not sure , but somewhere between all the theories , and champion fanciers opinions , i believe , there must be some facts ,regarding the theories. My question is, How do the janssen brothers select their breeders , a lifetime of sucessfull breeding, super pigeons, they must know something i do not know. Could somebody share me that secret? Please . |

Please . Hi Grizzle, A theory can never be anything else but a theory unless there is some Logic that can be applied to it. Over the years many eye sign enthusiasts have tried to convince the rest of the fancy that they have discovered the secret of establishing which birds are best at whatever! There has never been a scinetific study made of this theory, there has never been any factual evidence that such a theory could hold water. If we take eye sign to be an indicator of excellence in racing or breeding then why does this theory not apply to racehorses? can you possibly imagine someone looking into the eye of a horse and saying this is a winner/breeder................of course you cannot! Can you imagine anyone interested in greyhound racing having any faith that by looking into the eye of a dog they can predict at what it will excel? The Jansenne bros. picked their pairings on winners to winners and birds that excelled in racing went to stock and these were paired to birds they had bought in as a cross.................nothing more nothing less! You must remember, that with all breeds there is a great deal of rubbish reared and very few birds actually excel, that rubbish is sold off to anyone who will buy it.....................like fanciers in the UK. I have been round many Belgian top lofts and the only one that impressed me was the loft of Fabry and I know for a fact that some top lofts have people who breed for them! Please do not be confused by names, Jansenne will have bred thousands of YB,s I would gamble that VERY FEW have been as sucessful as their parents. Chanco. |
