| Yes? Uk is close to sweden so why not? So far i have only been able to buy eggs from 2 other people in sweden so i look in other countries aswell to try get more. They seem to be hard to get. So if anyone know a fantail breeder i could contact about buying eggs it would be helpfull.

| That´s what i am doing. But they are hard to find and i want to get new ones in my flock to avoid inbreeding too much. The more bloodlines i can find to mix up the better. I want to find better ones with different colours that i can breed with mine cuz my ones aren´t that good. Getting new birds is needed to improve the flock i got. To be able to get others colours and better children. I don´t see why you would be so surprised about that i want to get new birds? |

| Hi Fantail, I don't think David was surprised just inquisitive and looking to stimulate discussion to help keep the thread active and to hopefully prompt some helpful responses.
I don't keep fancy birds myself but having seen the staggering variety of different pigeons on show at Blackpool with the totally contrasting sizes, body shape, plumage and stances I can appreciate it would be an absorbing interest - do you show your birds, do you have them flying out and is it an unusual hobby in Sweden? |

| I don´t show my birds atm and the ones i have been able to get so far are way too poor quality and don´t follow the fantail standards in position or colour. Therefor i am looking all over the world for eggs to buy from other fantail breeders so i can improve my flock and maybe sometime in the future will try show them. It´s not that unusual to have pigeons in sweden. But fantails are rare here. So far i got 1 that i concider to be a good one so i try get as many babies as possible from him that i then can breed to my bad ones. And then keep breed the best ones. Fantails aren´t a flying breed and they spend almost all their time on the ground. I don´t let mine out cuz there´s alot hawks around where i live. But there don´t seem to be anyone with fantails on this forum. Are they rare in england too? |

| There's some good looking birds in your picture and a couple of doves by the look of it - what type are they, they look a bit like collared doves which are quite common wild (but not indigenous) birds over here? The fantails you usually see are I guess the garden type, typically white but they can fly so I guess they are't as 'extreme' as your non-flying showing type. To be honest I don't know how popular keeping show type fantails is. Fancy pigeons are a popular hobby but these seem to be mainly tumblers, high fliers and pouters (as far as I know ). Hopefully someone on this site might be able to point you in the right direction if they're not able to help you more directly. |

| They are ringneck doves. The brown ones look identical to collared doves but they are different species. Garden fantails got alot smaller tails wich less feathers wich are funned backwards. Basicly very poor fantails and mixbreeds are sold as garden fantail. |
