| do ybs really need to be trained once racing has started...? i know some do it with widowhood cocks but what do members think to doing it with ybs,as the top flyer in my club stops training his ybs once the racing has started (or so he says ) |

| Not that I have a/the answer, but my magnificent 7 have had two 45 mile trips, one on Tues and one today and, weather permitting they'll go again tomorrow before their 90 mile race on Saturday - the same point they flew for the first time from last weekend.
This isn't what I had expected but is what my mentor is advising and to be honest I'm not alone, our transporter is loading plenty of YB's each morning. Whether it's the right thing to do or not I guess I'll see at the weekend. whilst I don't want to stress them by giving them the trauma of basketing and the transporter too often I do want them to be fit, educated and able to fly on their own which is whyI've no problem with late comers - they've come on their own and are richer for the xperience. just my very, very, inexperienced opinion. |

| On the subject of training two of the top flyers in Blackpool that I know do things entirely differently and both are winning out of turn. One trains his ybs 4 days a week from 30 miles and the other exercises his ybs around the loft for 45 mins to an hour twice per day and feeding twice per day.
In fact the guy who doesnt train once racing starts has only trained as far as 8 miles before the first race which was a 60 miler and between them they filled 12 of the first 13 positions in a very competetive club. So as long as the birds are healthy and are exercising freely it doesnt seem to matter but there is less chance of a bad training toss if your not training, the British weather being what it is , lol Kev.

| It just goes to show there is more than one way to skin a cat, lol. I see youve had your birds away training and they must be over the illness that arose. Good luck for the race at weekend. Kev. |

| Hi David Glad to hear that all is well with the birds and I hope you find the info useful. If the feeding is wrong on basket day it doesnt matter what else you have done with the birds, they will not perform on raceday. Kev |
