It's been an eventful week at the lofts. Made the Mark II Wind turbine. This time I used a car alternator. Its working like a dream. Changed the DC Motor for a car alternator. Made a triple bearing, rotating plate. Re designed the propeller mounting plates Added Some heavy duty wiring Added a wooden tail piece to make it rotational Hey presto.

Started it at 9pm last night, by 5.10 am this morning, I was stood in the front garden, multimeter in my hand. The milkman was looking at me, with a strange expression on his face. I just thought maybe, he was thinking, here we go another fruit cake. It wasn't until I went to the bathroom to get a wash before getting me head down for a few hours. That I realised why he was giving strange looks. I don't think it was the contraption I had spinning around in the front garden, with a bright yellow fan on it. At silly o clock in the morning. I think it may have had more to do, with my face all covered in oil from the alternator. Especially around my chin and forehead. As I have a bad habit of rubbing my chin, especially when I am in deep thought. Plus the grey T shirt I had on, which was also full of oily handprints. A pair of shorts and a pair of work boots. I had to sneak out, avoiding the neighbours, as I don't think they would have been happy with me, hammering, drilling etc until the very early hours. Have you ever tried to cut checker plate with a jigsaw quietly at two thirty in the morning. I'm glad I've gone back to Southport for a few days...

I just love building things, The MKII will run an inverter to switch to 240v. But you've got to be careful especially where pigeons are concerned. If you have one of the big turbines, with the huge inverters. Because with the huge magnets and coils, they create a huge electro-magnetic field. Which I feel may interfere with the pigeons and send there homing device haywire. That's why I've opted for the 12v system using the alternator set up. because they are not fixed magnets. But I am thinking of making one with a bigger propeller so it would spin faster. I will get some pics took next week of led strip lights that we have installed. The are great. A bright white light with a small power drain, that really does light up the stock loft. Thanks for the positive comments. You really should build one, it would be done in one weekend and the cost is next to nothing. But the benefits are huge. A time machine!! Now there's a thought.
