and old birds for a long time, young birds to me have to have time to grow and develop

All though i put every effort into win races with youngbirds, Don is quite right with his thoughts that young bird races should just be for schooling education for them, but now because of the money involved with all the open races for them , we tend to forget this

I class myself a good youngbird flyer and a lot of my winning was done with young birds and have raced them every race come yearlings they have nothing left and win nothing as old birds

If you select a few promosing cocks after 3 races stop them let them mature and you can then race them as old birds up to the age of 5+ as they have had nothing taken out of them during youngbird racing

how do you know the 3 cocks you pick are your best cocks after only 3 races they not as you say tried and tested only had three short races

It's all about knowing your family and what the pigeons are capable of but if it was a new family then i would put them through there paces just to see what they are made of
