it is supposed to be beneficial tho` and is a natural antibiotic.........also honey is good for pigeons as this has healing properties too. So the same as marine fish , more a prevention of a parasite rather than a cure -makes sense . |

Wow didnt know that . Has anyone had success killing Coccidiosis with garlic , its really hard to shift in other birds but never heard of Garlic being used . Im genuinly intrigued before anyone jumps on me im not an exspert but do know that garlic has a beneficial effect on worms ie round worm and tape worm and is a natural antibiotic but not so sure about cocci and used in moderation benefits the birds health but i personaly only use it 1 a week jmo |

| We use it once a week, with honey, I will say one thing it helps boost their immune system and we rarely use medication. |

i dont give my birds it now p/p, i stoped using it this season ...in place i used cider vinegar and honey in the water at a rate of one teaspoon per litre of water, when i did use garlic i place one crushed clove in the drinker and leave it in 24/7 until it went slimey........then i would give them a break from it for maybe a week or so before adding it again. |

| yes i give all my birds garlic in the water ,i just peel the other layer off snip the ends to release the oils then they get it everyday . unless i am giving them somthing else in the water at that time then they just get it constantly. always been told to give them it evryday. never had any problems with it. and its cheaper than buying the concentrate in a bottle . and ya can grow your own if you want. and once used they go in the bath water one just to help keep the lice away. waste not want not. |

the only bit i can add ian is that the garlic used was to make garlic butter in a food factory i think the dose to make the butter was 50 fl oz to 3 tons of butter so must be ultra strong we aint talking ordinary garlic by the sounds of it |
