tail feathers

Hi All can anyone give me a clue to why my pigeons tail feathers dont seem to come out only 2 tail feathers.

looks to me as though the bird had lost all its tail feathers and new ones are starting to grow..
any more info paul did the bird lose its tail feathers at some stage

maybe had them pulled out for some reason, either cat/hawk etc......or someone grabbing the bird and pulling it out.

this may have caused the re-growing process problems.

Paul !!!!!!!! in non scientific terms etc, they are just feeling well within themselves. Basically !!!! in my view, 100% healthy & the weather/ food has giving them extra energy & that is the way they use it up "Moulting of the tail". Many birds will drop 3/4 flights at once in both wings. Nothing to worry about, just keep doing what you do. Don't toss them thou they will have to walk home .

this pigeon has never grown the tail feathers this loft at 1 stage had 7 pigeons with the same problem he pulled all the tail feathers out on all 7 the other birds tails came back, this one has never come back.

maybe an inhereted defect from the parents then paul ? possibly too closely related maybe ? or too much inbreeding practiced in the past ???
as we know close pairings can bring out good traits in the offspring, but also bring out bad ones too........
