Hi Darren, we have had very strong West winds for the last 3 races so the fact that we have made top 3 for the last 3 weeks is a minor miracle, there are another 3 lofts right next to us and this week none of them even got a pigeon on the result sheet so it shows how well our birds flew. The yearling is a champion as he is only 10 months old and has had 3 races, two wins and one 3rd place in the club. He has had a 2nd fed and 2nd Combine in his first race and in his 2nd race last week he was 12th Fed and this week after winning the club again he ought to score in the fed again. He is champion Gold ring bird in the Club. He was a youngster from a pair of burds mated for their Eyesign by my griend Myron in Florida.
I hope the weather improves for you guys as its getting close to your 1st race and it must be tough trying to get the birds fit. Kev

cracking bird that kev by the sounds of it .....yes weather is grim mine aint been out yet as they are just about to finish rearing .....think i will miss the first race but many will if they got sense atb kev and happy to hear you have had a good start to your season and long may it continue,hope ya get the rite wind next week

Thanks guys, no relent in the strong west wind on the cards according to the long range weather forecast for the coming weekend when the birds will race from Guarda 400Km or about 240 odd miles.
We have 1 of 4 lofts in a small compound and we all fly from the furthest West on the South coast of Portugal, The Algarve.
Everyone else is East of us and the other 3 lofts so when the wind is a Strong West one our loft and the other 3 fanciers lofts have the worst drop in the Club, Fed and Combine.
To put it in perspective, None of the other 3 lofts next to our loft managed to classify a pigeon in the main result and we clocked 6 pigeons before they recieved a bird between them. I am very pleased with our birds Old and Yearlings and I hope we can unearth a few Gems for the Distance races in few weeks time while we wait for the latebreds racing in the Yearling events to Mature in a year or twos time.
