| Folks it is a discussion site after all. My channel days were over 50 years ago. The longest I have flown here is 780 miles from the West. Due to relocating I sent 5 yearlings. Did not have older ones broke to that location. 4 made it home. The race was from Pickle Lake. Indian reservation North west of here. That is were the gravel road ends. No more roads after that. Terrain is relatively flat. It is all bush (forest) and rocks and some small lakes. Hawks a plenty and no where for the birds to land for a few hundred miles. Armpit of Canada. The last yearling I got came up from the South so assume it crossed at Sault St Marie (350 miles West) and in to the US and came up from there. That is a ship channel and locks that separate US and Canada. Lake Huron on one side Lake Superior on the other side of the locks. Pigeons will NOT fly across water unless they have to. As stated earlier, put them on the other side and they will cross if no option. Normal schedule here is to fly from the East. Headwind course. Very little water to cross. Since they cut out the 600 they just fly the 500 miler. and that only once a season now, it is still a two day race. It is next weekend actually. Every long distance race can be tough. Sorry if I ruffled any ones feathers. |

| Love it or leave it. He says what he thinks. That is what discussion boards are for. He may fly tipplers, who knows? May be full of crap. Who knows? actually who cares? I do not know the guy. However he does post sometimes controversial posts. But shit better have some of them than the majority of posts on congratulation each other on club wins. ahem, saying that I will probably be booted from here. |
