| David. Your two latecomers. Just give them a week or two off! Pigeons are resilient little buggers. Edgie that is crap. The 'Never any good remark.' Supplements, antibiotics all bullshit for the most part. Pigeons do not fly faster now than 50 years ago when they were not treated. Just that there are many more at the top speed due to better breeding/selection methods not supplements. IMO |

i can asure you halcanada its not crap, electrolites in the water on there return espesialy on hot days as last saturday was here,is a must, you yourself feel better after a drink with sugar in, i,e tea coffee, after you have been exerting yourself, the idea is to perk them back up sooner rather than later, this day and age you cant afford to leave them in the loft long, as they are too far down the road, as for birds today flying the same speed as birds of yester year, evolution has taken care of that, move with the times my freind, or go the way of the DODO ? |

Will agree edgie I always had Honey and Lemon in the water on there return from the race as there first drink, then replaced this with clean water when I was satisfied every pigeon has had a good drink of the honey mix first But everyone to there own |

| I do not want to ruffle any one's feathers here. Perhaps I should explain my thoughts more. For many years I have used or tried every type of med or supplement. Free access to most of it. This farm here, before the herd of sows was sold due to poor pork prices, numbered over 2,000 breeding sows plus offspring up to 4 weeks old. Sows were bred and farrowed 2.4 times a year. Litter size 14 pigs. 30 % increase after I took it over. Ivomec, vaccinations, all the usual stuff was administered. What increased my productivity was acids in the water. Metered in from 40 gallon drums. 4 way acids. Plus selective breeding for replacements. Any way. I use lemon juice only now on the pigeons. Honey, electrolytes, used to use. found the honey tended to put mucous in the throat. Electrolytes worked for quick recovery. However, if the bird did not recuperate after a week or so off, electrolytes only delayed the inevitable. Doubt if way of the Dodo applies. I do the same now as years ago when I took trophies to the dump, so many. Ever notice some family of pigeons never get sick too often? Yet others in the same loft do with all the meds etc,. the non-sickies are what I strive for. Sick ones are nuked. Seldom, two a year, nowadays. |

no feathers ruffeld here mate you have your way and its not for me to change that, as for good healthy birds thats what we that know will strive for, electrolites are very good on the day, but i will stick with my conclusion if a bird is not showing sighns of improvement within 3 days it is in my oppinion finished ?. |

| Point taken. Each to their own. We are both talking from experience, both have different conclusions. Way it should be. |
