its their first ever race david and they are always nervous first time on the transporter...keep at it I am sure things will pan out after a few races ...I remember a few races with ybs taking 3 or 4 mins to trap from a early yb race and still won it so always clock one atb

David hasn't helped with trapping but one positive is if they weren't looking to go in for a drink after the heat of today at least you know they getting looked after by convoyer and drinking in race panniers. I guess they done less than hour and half today, so maybe going straight to the water wasnt on the early arrivals minds, bet the later ones went straight in?

Races stretch out they will trap. My YB's roam for two hours or more. I only feed once a day so can trap them easily. Today's race was cancelled. Put over until tomorrow. Will not send any. Two races a weekend. Short one is 120 miles for me, longer one 150.

FFS david clock them in at least they derserve that after racing home for you , just got back from my club most of the members had the same problems as you birds not trapping , it just scares the crap out of them when they get lib with 100s if not 1000s of other birds we don,t know what happens on the way home percy might have had a go at them we just don,t know . i could not get out of work to time mine in i clocked them in when i got down the loft i don,t know how long they were there but i clocked them in i was over a hour behind .

- thing is Darren, when I take them training they are home before me, and no one there to get them into the loft........a few trap through the bobs but others peck on grass till I get home.
now you have started racing can you not just send on local trailer for training if you still plan to train whilst racing that is afraid not Darren, the local trainer decided hes not doing it any more, so this is why ive done it myself this season..........even tho I only took them 12 miles they seen to have come ok, its just they wont trap
thinking of mainly exercising around the loft from now on, but a lot are paired up and do not want to fly much, so im a bit stuck on what to do for the best..... David as I know nothing when I raced and was in the same situation as you no one to get the youngsters in I would fly them for an hour with the flag up once hour completed get them in straight away no food place them in the basket but leave the basket in the loft Go and get there food and place it in the truff make sure the birds see and know what's happening as they are hungry they will want to get the food but take them training They will not mess about knowing food is waiting for them the ones that are messing about when you get will miss there feed the next day they will trap but when you place the food in the loft make sure the youngsters hear the food going into the truff as it was a short race the birds should have gone to the race with less food in them so when they returned home they were hungry enough to trap Hope this has helped you but your birds must know either in the sky or in the loft no messing about |
