| ive never had much faith in y/b that make mistakes how ever this year our best young bird was lost from the last training chuck prior to racing he arrived home 4 weeks later after 2 weeks he was back in training his results were 2nd club 400 birds and 4th fed his next race was 1st club 5th fed his next race was 1st club 2nd fed beat by decimal for cold medle just goes to show how wrong you can be another one we had never wanted to fly from the loft he would go out the door and bolt straight back in the trap i said to my mate its a waist of space he took it 3 miles down the road and it came back 2 days later now after a while it started to join the others all be it for a bout 5 mins then he would come in this y/b went on to win 2 seconds and 2 fourths so it just goes to show they aint as daft as the seem lol |

| here's one for you G
My old friend Colin Butler had an young hen who which was lost for 3 to 4 weeks before racing when she returned trained her ok but when she had to exercise round the loft this hen would walk round the garden everytime out would land on the lawn
This Hen won win everytime she walked the lawn if she flew round the loft she would be way behind, everytime she started to walk the lawn she was nominated and pooled all the way that hen won 10 firsts and plenty of pools
But she made loads of mistakes as a youngster |

| Here's another one G Another club member Joe Williams was breed a pair of youngsters by Billy O Neil they turned out to be both hens one a cheq and the other cheq w/f the cheq was lost of the loft The cheq w/f was reported loads of times was a complete waste of time and space but spent more time coming back home in a box than on the wing that winter Joe was about to get rid of her but was 1 hen short so she was left for the next year as a yearling she was raced every inland and race midweek and Saturday she was clocked in first pigeon every race and the lowest prize she won was forth club she won about 8 or 9 first as a yearling As a 2 year old she did nothing but was raced over the water and won the Sartilly classic she was then stopped and bred nothing like her just goes to show pigeons can make fools of us all |

Have two like that both fed winners, dark cheq has two 1sts from 200 miles as yearling and 2yo every other race comes home in his own time. Cheq cock if he is first to loft wins the race otherwise nowhere. Both had a night out and after that showed what they could do I still worry about them till they are home though |

| The best pigeon the Janssen brothers ever had or owned was lost as a youngster and returned in a box, it was not only the best racer but breeder as well.
I have had lots of pigeons make mistakes as ybs and become very very good pigeons, that's why I only race 3 or 4 yb races each year, its my belief we loose our best pigeons as ybs every year, that might seem a contradiction but its not, in pigeon racing a mistake or simple error can cost a pigeon its life and often does, but If they get away with it its a lesson learned. |

| all my best birds have been lost as y/bs but always came back on their own and went on to prove very good birds example the old w f ck was lost for over a week as a y/b then flew steady as a y/b and yearling but as a 2 y/old won 3x 1st club and fed on the trot 4th week 3rd club 18th fed and 2 weeks later 1st club 8th fed and left plenty good birds |
