could be a number of things first thing I would do though is make sure the birds getting enough vitamin A ...could be something as simple as a peck in the eye or bird sitting in a draught or indeed could be linked to respiratory problem but if the other birds are ok then its doubtful most times it clears up on its own which makes me feel its a peck usually

had one eyed cold twice over the past 6 years, used optrex infected eye drops for conjunctivitis in humans.......contains chloramphenicol and sorts it out easily enough.

[quote="Rudderfett"]its bacteria, put some honey in the eye and it will be gone in 2 days. [/quo That's new to me Martyn Billy O'Neil from Dudley Port if he saw a pigeon with one eye cold he would open the beak and squeeze the wattle nostrils and if the clef moved there would be gung (snot ) he would get a cotton wool ear bud roll it on the clef get the gung rolled onto the ear bud and this helps clear the nostrils and the one eye cold is gone the next day But what I would say if a pigeon is in a draft I would say this helps toward the one eye cold situation also

Don thats very interesting mate, I have had it from time to time as people have said sometimes a peck will do it, and to me that's why its bacteria, the peak is the transmitter of it...sometimes Every time I have seen a bird with it, and I did have 1 bird seemed to get it once a year, it usually is gone in 2/3 days, I mop up the bubbles with tissue to dry it out, then a blob of honey, gone within days no further treatment needed. I don't think clamidia as stated has anything to do with it? but I think that is a bacterial infection so could be. and if it isn't a bacterial infection then it defo isn't clamidia.

Yes it's gone now thanks Mark, 1st I treated it it with old had one eye cold tablets, that did nothing, when I used to race they used to get rid of it within 2 days. Next I mixed up some strong condis crystals and dipped her head in that for 5 seconds twice a day, that didn't do anything, do I was now thinking it was something else. As a last resort I tilted her head to one side and dripped a tea bag into her eye I let her blink about 20 times with the tea still in her eye then put her back in the hospital hutch. Next morning after one treatment with the tea it was totally gone. Her loft mates had their first 3 training tosses last week while she was in the hutch, I put her in with them today and she made it home, albeit 30 mins after the rest, but it was her first toss.
