i have done ray, simply for the reason I feed them early Friday morning, plus if they are exercising on Friday they might not come in, or might stay out longer than you want .....its just safer really if your wanting to basket them that day.

I'm one of those that tends to keep them in on basket day Ray etc. Being winter here, nothing to be gained by having them all out in crap type weather as such & I suspect they are happier sitting on their perch with a good feed in their belly for when they go away. Now !!! short story Smile Smile talking to tubby Smile Smile little fat bloke today etc & he told me one of my old club mates told him on Friday night basketing his birds had to much food in there crop, with which he just smiled & moved on Wink Wink. The man had egg on his face thou Smile Smile as he again was placed in the Fed race today & that makes it 3/3 with around 2500 birds in each race. cheers

im exactley the opposit my birds go out at 7am every day, i feed them on basket day 9am , then let them out all day, put a bath on for them, then get them back in the loft 3pm with seed and peanuts,do it every day simple routine so no problem, cheers during the week when not racing, they are let out again at 6pm after young birds exercise, and left till approx 8-9 pm, its called an open loft type of thing.

PostSubject: Re: Question .why   Question .why EmptySun Jun 19, 2016 12:38 pm

when I was racing widowhood cocks would stay in the loft but when I was ready to basket them would place them in the basket take the 2 miles and they would come back to the hens 2minutes straight into the basket

YBs would get them out early between 5.00 - 5.30am get the in 7.00am light feed clean water but at 12.00 - 12.30 would give them another light feed but would take the water out the loft before I feed the YBs

would place fresh water back into the loft 2 hours before they were basketed for the race doing this I know the birds had plenty of water and were hydrated for the coming race
