from a racing piont of view what method do you use to achieve good racing pigeons for the years racing.is it the pedegree of the bird.do you buy birds which have a good reputation of breeding?do you buy eggs from top racing men?if you bred a bird that done very well for you in a yb race then does it get priority the next year for breeding.does anyone use the stud system?im just trying to understand the way racing men think.

inbreeding good for keeping the blood of any winning birds you have and want to preserve the line Razz

Keep the good ones, KILL the bad ones.
Be sure that the breeders are in good condition and well prepared for them to breed a good youngsters. Good pigeons are everywhere. It is all about how you breed and raise the youngsters.

MMMMMMmmmmmm Smile Smile "Good pigeons every where" Joseph !!! Smile Smile One can get lost Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Wink Wink with a phrase such as that. It just rolls of the tongue so to speak & sounds very smart/good. Reality thou (The real world) is somewhat differant I suspect, at least in my view for most of us here Wink Wink. True story !!!!! just to prove my point etc. One of the guru's here on the local website earlier in the year, come out & said, most pigeons will fly 500 miles easy lol! lol! lol!. This was before the season started type of thing here & he boasted (Loudly) that he had 90 odd birds to race the Ob season. Guess what thou Smile Smile Smile out of the 5 distance races 4/5/600 miles, he only flew one & that was a 400 mile race with the wind up there a**e & then he come up with 101 excuses etc I'm affraid  of why he couldn't fly the other ones Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyesbounce bounce . cheers

Hi! Every fancier has their own system. We can't tell how bad or lucky we are. Excellent pigeons doesn't guarantee will produce an excellent youngsters too. It gives us confidence because we know it's a very nice bird. Of course nobody wants to race a bad pigeon.

I have kept 5 birds. All are from proven breeding pairs. I don't race my birds but I raced through my boss's birds because I'm his loftman. Anyway, sad to hear but I really need to STOP this hobby because I need to find a work in Qatar. I need to earn for myself, not just for my happiness of caring pigeons. But If I were lucky if someone is looking for a loftman, I'll grab it! Lol! I love Racing Pigeons!
