| more will be added to this topic so keep checking daily, members have helped me and others on subject of pigeons, my way of paying these members back 1 way i know is pc health advice, this could save you a few bob now and again, some like me know very little about pcs, i get a lot of info off son who is a pc technition, slightest thing wrong with a pc will cost a minimum of £40 at a pc shop, a job you might easily be able to do yourself, i will start off with a few DOs and DONTs, 1 pc users turn pc off at night dont, by doing this you are doing more damage to pc starting and stopping, than done by leaving on 24/7, my pc is on 24/7, i reboot once sometimes twice a week, once a month i turn it off overnight, by doing this im looking after motherboard and processor, by far most expensive parts in a pc, if any member has a pc query/fault, post it here if i cant answer i will ask son info and post answers here after 7-30 pm, some turn pc off because tower/case gets too warm, reason for this is fans are too small to cool pc, i used to run my pc flat out downloading/burning cds 24/7 i dont now, if tower/case is getting to warm 3 fans are needed, 1 to blow cool air onto processor 2 to extract warm air out of pc at back top 3 to pull cool air into pc bottom front laptop users most of you at times have used laptop on your knee, this is worst thing you can do, use a tray or a board under laptop on your knee, using it on knee overheats solder on motherboard some can be redone by soldering iron some cant needs to be done by a special gun cost upto £400 each, some pc shops say new motherboard needed as graphics solder melted, 1 in 10 shops have this gun and will repair it, so always leave a airflow under laptops never on knee with nothing under it, more added regular |

| Some good advice there, I remember when I was doing my degree, I asked the I.T chap why he left all the computers on all night. He told me the same thing they had computers in another department same computers and put in the same time as the design ones but they turned them off every night, guess what they all buggered up within 2 years, whereas the design ones were still going after 5 years. |
