| david cant remember what topic you were on when you mentioned about racing two year olds that havent been race before , i have asked every member in my club to see what there view is, everyone said exactly the same thing you will lose them no matter how much training you have they need the experience as youngbirds , you will also be throwing your money away , you may get the odd one now and then , if your not bothered about loosing them then try them but i myself would start from scratch with a youngbird team and progress from there, hope this helps you make your mind up david good luck |

| someone said something very similar to me today ian, they need to at least have the experiance of some racing and being liberated....but the thing is that if i dont race them ill have to keep them as stock birds wont i ? altho i dont want to throw them away.... |

| david youve got to start somewhere use them as stock then you can gradually put some of your better racers into stock however if they breed you winners then you keep them if they breed you a winner every year then great , but i tell you david over half of my stock has never raced before i bought them as stock |

| said he doesnt break widowhood cocks down after a race he just gives a bit less food....he has electrolites in water on return and tea on a sunday followed by vitamins with vit b... tue,wed and thurs and fresh clean water on friday.
on thurs he lets them eat as much as they want and even on fri morning they can eat as much as they want but he said w/hood cocks on form should not eat loads on a friday as they dont want to
oh, one other thing ian, he puts luke warm water in the drinker for when they get home on a saturday and not cold....and each day the water has been stood over night in the watering can.... |

| How important is correlation in racers, i know the eyes should be well correlated, what about the body, some white feathers, and white marks on the head, and some white toe nails. Isnt it all part of correlation? |

| ian, i know he races in a few clubs but his main one might be closing so he told me he has applied to join other clubs but they wont let him in.....he also told me for the past so many years he has been highest prize winner evey year apart from 3 times....might try asking about some ybs for next year, you never know he might just let me have some or sell me some.....this man is 71 years old and is a mine of information.... |

hi niel, i dont think colour has anything to do with winning, there are winners in all colours be it blues, cheqs or pieds etc....according to what ive been told by breeding certain eyes togeather it can alter the physique of a bird (once asked jack barkel) if you read the jack barkel articles it will tell you about correlation.... |

i had some ybs of a friend of mine he had trained them up to 20 miles never raced.i had them of him and broke them to my loft.i had them for two years as stock just flying around the loft. i decided to send them to race trained them with my birds and guess what they were home before any of my birds and they raced the full program, |

| youve been lucky then ,as i said before i dont think 20 members in my club cant all be wrong , if they are beating your other birds back from races then i would seriously be looking at the reason why, this should not happen only my veiw |

| thanks for the opinions, i dont think ill be racing the two year olds as i would prefer to give my best efforts to restarting with ybs.......i know some fanciers specialise in yb racing but personally i think yb racing in general is easier than ob racing, so ill be using yb racing to ease myself back into pigeon racing......... |
