| Can anyone tell me when birds on Darkness start to moult.
I put my first lot of Y/B's on the darkness system on the 21st March, I have forgotten when they should start to moult.
And do they drop their feather all together, or is it just like a normal moult in the autumn - slowly at first?

Phil YOUR BIRDS WILL THINK ITS WINTER NOW AND WILL START DROPPING FEATHERS IN A FEW DAYS IT WILL TAKE ON AVERAGE 6 TO 8 WEEKS , BUT THEY WILL ONLY MOULT THE BODY FEATHERS .HOPE THIS HELPS |

| darkness birds only moult body and head feathers, but not all of them as they do in a full normal moult, the dark ybs ive had or seen don't moult all the feathers 100%, but enough to make them look like yearlings......they don't normally moult wing flights, but occasionally they do drop a flight or two.
ive heard of fanciers giving something called butter milk which makes them moult quicker...never used it my self so I don't know how well it works. |
