Birds brought back to 285 mile station. 8 am release. Open loft all week. Young, old all fly together. 2 more weekends of old birds then week off then YB's start. Start training them next week. Weather permitting.

Line of sight. Too hot to sit outside. Sometimes too much rain. So sit in the back room with door open. Cannot see the loft traps. So use this. Works well!

Ahem...my wife's idea last year. Said I was bitching too much. She got a better one out of the deal.
Line of sight. Reminds me of a guy I used to fly with in the London Canada club. said his young birds were flying 3 hours or more. went to see him. Nice house in the city, mature trees. He was sitting drinking a beer. Told me the young had been gone ranging over two hours. I sat back in the lawn chair and lifted a bottle of beer. "Hows your eyesight " I asked. "Need glasses but been putting it off" he replied. "Look up at that tree" I said. All the young are sitting in it." "Will definitely get glasses tomorrow!" oh well.

You can't paint kitchens in 30c heat, paint drys to quick and will peel off, (my Mrs has been falling for that one for the last 40 odd years)

Thanks folks. One of my better endeavors! Had 2.5 foot space at end so added 3 more boxes. All 2 x 16 inch by 16 inch. Bob wires on one window. Landing board outside. Plastic netting above beams. Not jumping up to catch them! Same netting on bottom. Underneath the boxes. Was for stock birds but will use it for widowhood cocks next year. No stretching, no bending. First race was cancelled this year and my schedule was thrown off. Hatching eggs etc, etc,. Never recovered. No more! Widowhood next year.

Did not ship tonight. Weather forecast is good but did a lot of ruminating. Chewing the cud. Next few days moving yearlings in to new loft from other lofts. Will be room for 6 or so young cocks. Other loft with 2 year olds stays as is. The birds. Also widowhood next year. Probably a dozen. Seems like my idea of pulling down a loft is now on hold. Have to start now for next year. Break yearlings to the new set up etc,. Have very few birds to get rid of actually. Few dummies, few stock birds, young birds some I assume. Wait and see with young birds. Planning way ahead but have to. Bad season for me.
