| getting new wood delivered for the new loft, what do members protect their loft with, do they stain it or paint it....what do they use ?
on my old loft ive painted it green with that coloured paint type, not a gloss, but a matt stain type of thing. |

| Luke has painted ours with a blue type stain, looks nice , and living in the middle of a huge council estate keeping the neighbours onside is important, although some are right ar££es, the wives like it so we will keep using it, does look better than the old creosote brown |

| I use any sealant I can find at the right price - then decide on what colour I want. I like to see the natural wood, but it isn't very good for the birds.
I like the idea of a blue stain - that sounds like the best of both worlds.
However, I think it is possible to make ones loft more visible to the pigeons without upsetting the folks around you. I painted big wide white stripes on the roof of one of my lofts when I was younger, that worked well I think.
The nicest loft I have ever seen was painted powder blue and white - it looked like a giant beach house or Greek villa.

Nicest loft I have ever seen was just painted with a clear plain wood stain etc. Just gave me one of those feel good moments, for a job well done by the owner there who just happened to be a painter by trade. ***** |

| Whatever you do don't make my mistake. When I built my loft I wood stained inside and outside, it looked the nuts but the wood couldn't breath and I had mould on the inside of my loft for a year until I realised what was happening. It took me a day and a half and 2 electric sanders to get rid of it all on the inside as it soaked right in. Idiot. We live and learn. |

Good/better ventilation in your loft, which is difficult to get right at times, may have helped there with your issue, maybe. ***** |
