So, ambitions or goals for the coming season?

Does one want to win most of the times or just specific races for specific distances?
Does one plan for races they want to win?

up north combines longest race bourges 570m want day birds and more than one.

I’d like to win more club races and get a bird Home on the day from Thurso 515.
I’d like to win Berwick.
Most of all I want to stay clear of young bird sickness as the last 2 young bird seasons have been wash outs.

Do you fly Lerwick aswell ? must be a fair old hike to you.

I’ve never flown Lerwick it’s not in our race programme.
I can’t even get them home from Thurso.

better than last year, real disappointment, but as long as i enjoy it not to bothered

Try to win every race I enter and get some good positions in the Midlands continental classic and the British Barcelona club but would give up the club prizes for one or two positions in the last two

to enjoy the game as much as last year...will be targeting the yearling classic from hexham,would be nice to breed a bunch of misfits a half tidy one loft race yb to atb to all members and their endeavours for 2018

Rejoined the midland national would like a few good places in results also score well in the bamfords gold ring and some one else to take secretarys job off me ( I can only dreamLol )

hows your 100+ year old club doing now ken, is it still going strong...?

It is really heartening to see folks trying to fulfil there ambitions! Not once in the previous posts did I see "Win money!"
When I first started in Canada, the club I joined was run by an Hungarian guy. Karl von Gardony. He won most everything. Especially at the 500 miler. My ambition was to beat him. It took 3 years. But all the birds I had had to go the distance. 12 pairs on the nest. What performed stayed. Others were lost. Only way I culled. But eventually it paid off. At that time basically Des Mathys plus crosses. Those years we had in the Fed, 2 400 milers 2 500 milers. Over 5 year, first 3 were so so. Two years after won 1 400 Fed and 2 500 Fed. About 5 birds sent to each. Cocks and hens. They scrubbed one 500 miler year after. Came up with the Canadian Barcelona. Bagotville, Quebec. 586 for me. Won the London East/Forest City club by 3 hours. In the Fed, in the top 10. Winners were 40 miles south of me and 40 miles shorter. Assume Knackered will look it up and verify. "The spy who came in from the heat". But seriously point is this. Never give up! You have a goal go for it.

Some challenge from my perspective Mark with what little I know etc . Maybe  a John Romney way of thinking maybe the go there, maybe . Threw the local birds out the door as such & then went off shore I believe. That's it Man thing here now Hang the washing     & then take the missus out to lunch .

Yes I always buy local FW Kangaroo, snake/Koala bear & for desert etc      the old witchgeede grub as such . Couldn't find a better meal any where   & so if your interested come on down & we will both go hunting together for a meal here, in my little valley.

you flew well last year jet / scaife bros, especially your young birds, its only a matter of time before you top the fed, I`m sure......

Hi David the club is now 123 years old we have 8 members left, who are doing everything to keep the club going , the members in the club are of strong qaulity ie R & B Smith W & P Brown E Simpson D Rooney These men are no slouches when it comes to pigeon racing winning nationals specialist 2 bird racing ect

excellent ken, glad to hear your still going strong........ive heard of r & b smith, I know they are top flyers, as you know, I know your mate bill brown, hows he doing now racing, is he still winning his fare share...? havnt heard of e simpson, but is it derrick rooney who flies in your club...?

Hi David yes Bill is still winning his fair share It is Derek Rooney Eric simpson joined us last tear he was premier winner in our club in his first year with us which will tell you the qaulity he is
