| Pity, but maybe unavoidable.
We humans have a lot to answer to.

| Heck could put up dozens of pics of predators that kill pigeons. I do not enjoy killing them. The damage some have caused is out of proportion to the size of the predator. Weasel the most kills, mink the next then coons. Resident hawk gets a few but the birds watch it and learn. He is more a help than an hindrance. The predators attack my birds they are done for. Trap and release? They will return and know the way in! Dead they are not mobile. |

| Do not blame you at all Hal, just a great pity the problem animals do not stay in their wild locations and feed on their natural prey.
But as one gets older any killing appears more undesirable.
Done my share in the past to protect my pigeons but never liked doing so.
There will neve be an ideal means of dealing with many problems we can only our best to deal with them in the best manner available.

| When the predators are land based then I should be doing a better job of security. Arial cannot control too much. But they do see the hawks and attacks and learn from them in the safety of the aviary. Out they are on their own. Dummies get hit or unlucky ones. Different scenario. Killed many young new born pigs that had a virus and fed the guts back to the sows. Immunity. Works well. Standard procedure years ago. Will say this. It is easier to shoot a person long range than up close. Just a target. No eyes to look in to. Or movement in the jungle. Shoot first or perhaps be shot. Those days long gone fortunately. Stick in the brain though, as most memories do. Violent ones. Do I regret those episodes? No. Live for today. Past cannot be changed. Pigeon fliers (us older folk) do not like the present day situation in most places/countries. Sport is commercialised to the extant that many new guys buy the best advertised pigeons. Foks quit because of this price factor. They beleive they cannot beat the big money fliers. They can beat them!!! |

| Right HAL, the pigeon does not know how much it cost, and it is the ability of the pigeon that counts and not the owners pocket.
Would have fancied my chances against anyone, it is the pigeon that flies and not the fancier.
Some of the very best pigeons have originated from back garden and allotment lofts.
In my opinion the happier the pigeon the more chances of it performing to it's full ability.
And in my opinion the ones in many rich peoples lofts are nothing but ROBOTS.
