Agreed with your often spoken reality. Was a time when Most clubs / feds were split into East and West or more.
Worked very well. Come week-end there would be 2 or 3 Club results from same club. (even 4 when all the results were counted as one result. Same with fed results etc.
Raunds club. for instance, even did a handicap result. Based on past results or new comers. Awarded each week they sent certain amount of points in a points structure. Yes a good bird for a newbie would often get placed. So next season his points per race would be reduced. Yes the overall winner in essence still won. Placing remained some what the same... but great store and joy was had when the newbie / not so good flyer could see if his handicap was counted he would be well up the ladder.

Any angle/interest that may bring joy to the masses should be considered I suggest at a club/centre/fed type scenario if it brings harmony along with it etc. Good pigeon club, is more than just dropping your clock off on race day & disappearing out the door or maybe even using something like Benzing live & just letting others do all the hard yards in getting a result out. Now that being said We have a national type race here from 400 odd miles each year between all the local feds (5) 10 bird limit maximum. On a good day 3000 odd birds will go up & we will send 3 trucks away (17,000 odd Birds) from different thinking type people from different feds to get them all there . End of the story, all up transport costs would come in at around $8/10,000 mark where as one truck could do it for around $3/4,000 I suspect. Another one we have a marvellous local transporter here a few years ago we got the welder out & extended it to take more birds on it etc. Today we could take an angle grinder to it as such & cut it in half & still have ample room for all the birds that would be sent away on a good day .
