yes i agree misty, doesnt take much to add it to the prize card, and gives a better view of the race .

in our club we had a couple of members who had dominated the results for years, but since chuda joined, he and his mate (already a member, who usually would take  the odd position now and then) have knocked them off their perch so to speak .....we have now open our radius and allowed two more new members in, so it appears there is a more healthy level of competition between members, rather than the same two winning every race between them , more or less ....

Opening the boundary's Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes sort of reminds me etc David Smile Smile it may just be a survival mode thing like down here in some places I could name. Phantom type names Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad to boost ones image bounce bounce & people that have no interest any more, being signed up to reach a quorum to just keep a club in motion as such. cheers

No more racing. However he posted on my site. New FB friend.
It doesn't happen often that we can compare results in 2 combines from the same station on the same day. This past weekend we had this situation with both the NRRPA and the UNC being in Latchford. The NRRPA released at 545 and the UNC at 615. It was a tough day with heat and SW winds along most of the course.
I shipped my limit of 20 birds in the UNC and my remaining 25 birds to the NRRPA. No particular order, just about half of my hens and cock to each race picked randomly.
My first birds home in the NRRPA were 5 hours and 50 minutes. I had 10 birds home in 55 min.
In the UNC race my first birds were exactly 6 hours and I had 10 birds home in 53 minutes.
To my loft there was virtually no difference in the time of flight or rate of returns.
Also missing 1 bird from each race. So my loft results are very similar.
In the combine the results are very different. In the NRRPA I was 4th by 26 seconds.
In the UNC I was 87th behind the winner by 38 minutes.
I should add that the UNC had 669 birds from 45 lofts and the NRRPA had 572 birds from 33 lofts. A joint release would have been over 1300 birds.
Good information to compare.
Interesting Hal Smile Smile 30 minutes difference at the release point at times when liberated bounce bounce can maybe change the dynamics of the whole outcome at the other end I could suggest. cheers

Flown here in the past Hal Smile Smile in a specialist/open club that I gave away 60 odd miles in over fly etc. Win some you loose some type of thing bounce bounce & I never went to bed Smile Smile thinking I was hard done by when beating as such. Little fat bloke  lol!  lol!  lol! I've mentioned here  bounce  bounce at times, flew for years in a real sh*te hole of an area in a pigeon sense  Smile  Smile & all it did was make him try harder to beat those in a better position on the day.  cheers

i didnt think our club would be still going in 5 years time, but by the radius being opened up, and new members joining, it might just survive a bit longer .........

There many problems with regard to lifting boundaries and amalgamating clubs etc;

The vast number of fanciers are not spring chickens.

Many have no transport.

Many are not in the best of health.

I know that in some clubs the younger members will help as much as they can, in the last club I was in all I needed to do is watch the younger members do everything for me, even gave me a seat to watch them do all the work, not my style so I very reluctantly called it a day.

Even offered to help at home.

However, this I feel is not the norm.

The fact is that the memberships average age is such that with the lack of new members the sport will soon not be a viable financial proposition other than for the rich.

Wish I could see a way out but matters have been left to rot during the past 45 years or so and the Hall Report shows the total lack of concern by those who have run the sport for that length of time.

Regards.

clubs will have to open there boundaries else they will be finished ....oz uk pigeon racing is not far behind the 4 year scenario ,then it will be one loft and specialist clubs only ...sad but true

This leaves what will happen to the RPRA when there are too few to make it a viable organisation.

The numbers involved in OLR and Specialist Clubs will never be enough to support the upkeep of the RPRA and those responsible for it's decline will not be bothered because they have had their cosy meetings and trips abroad etc; for over 45years in some cases.

Fanciers own fault for letting them.

Regards.

we may have our last season this year and revert back to just keeping a few as pets ,all stock is going in september irrespective ,will just breed from racers if we stay in the racing game ...alfies getting older and wants more of my time and he can certainly have it ,will always have a few birds about though always did before we started racing ,will decide in the winter it may be a whole lot easier if we cut out the stock aspect no doom and gloom Very Happy just real observations at my club/organisation

Very important time in Alfie's life oldstrain as you well know, only young once and when all the best or worst are instilled in the young.

You could always have a go in the OL races.

Young enough to have a go when Alfie leaves the nest, although as things appear seems little chance of the sport surviving in any meaningful manner.

Lets just hope for the best.

Regards.

My best memories involve same.
