| i had this a few years ago mark, never actually found out what it was .....sometimes if i wormed them they would recover, or other times darren gave me advise using certain things like ropa b and other things which also worked .........one time i had medication of nigel cowood which also worked ,
never did really get to the bottom of it, the birds either recovered or sometimes died, but thankfully ive not had it for maybe 5 years now, but am always on the lookout for the signs . |

| I'm using the avidress in the water as well changing the grit every morning spraying the corn through out each day scraping out every time I go in just one thing or another what with young bird sickness and now this makes you think why bother at all |

| i used the ropa b mark, but found it far too expensive .........have now been using the avidress which darren told me about, for the past 18 month - 2 years and find its a lot cheaper and lasts longer , not sure it does anything but will continue to use it .......i suppose its like most things, we dont know for sure if they work but dont want to risk stopping using it .
one of the things nigel sent me was coli-stop which i mixed with something else, cant remember off hand but will try find out ..... |

| this is what nigel said mark ,
Hi David.
From first it seems they have either streppi or e-coli ! could even have both.
Amoxycillin and/or trymethaprim is what they need. Could take upto 15 days as it goes thru the loft very slowly.
the products were coli-stop and stoppe strepp, give no grit or vitamins while treating, then a probiotic after the course.
i hope you get it sorted soon mark, its always depressing when birds are ill..... |

| i have found an odd yearling like this mark in previous years ,a type of yb sickness but as a yearling but only yearlings and they never had young bird sickness as ybs....i used belgicas 4 in 1 its specifically for gastro intestinal disorders not a canker cocci wormer like you may think its really good stuff for the job,if you have 2 year olds etc...holding corn it may just be sour crop if yer letting um sit and then removing eggs i find that some produce crop milk and it sours because they are not feeding ,especially if they over sit or eggs are taken around hatch date even sometimes if they sit pot eggs ,nystatin would be my choice for that but always give fennel tea 1 time a week to keep the crop sweet ....hope you get it sorted mark atb |

| yes darren, i agree, sitting eggs and not hatching them has also been a "theory" as to why mine were ill.......this is why i never put pot eggs under them now, and prefer to just take the eggs away . |
