| What do you use as the main base for you feed. I tried to give mine a bit of posh grub for a change I gave them 1 part verseile laga all round mix and 2 parts Versailles laga Wheat. Their droppings were horrible very loose and wet, I thought they were I’ll, but they were still bouncing and looked fine. I ran out of that grub, so I went down the local pet shop and bought their economy mix it’s been £10 a sack for as long as I can remember it’s very basic, Wheat, maples, beans, barley, peas, safflower, Dari and big maize. They’ve only been on it a few day days and their droppings are perfect.
I think it was too much wheat that made them loose, I’m thinking of making barley my base feed, but they don’t seem to like it that much. |

| always peas and maize as a base the smaller grains are a smaller percentage of the mix for me steve ,i do use about 25% depuratve and the barley content of that is my indicator as when they start to leave that i know i am feeding just a tad to much i like to see most of the birds losing interest in the feed when theres just a few grains of barley left but all still gets eaten if you know what i mean atb |

Always felt here get the fibre content right etc when feeding & wet/loose droppings are less of a concern as such, as long as the general heath issue is also in tune when feeding. |

| I like to feed a good strong mix with plenty of maple peas and a good percentage of maize and other seeds I do add some diat mix in as well but I keep away from barley droppings always go soft mind you at this time of the year the droppings are more wet then usual with all the moisture around |

| i think you have to provide plenty of sources for the breeders especially winter breeding ,make sure they have all they need ,i could not give open loft here it would be suicide at this tlme of year ,maybe when the raptors have gone to nest but no point dwelling on whats not happening eh ,plenty clay and black minerals and crushed oyster shell grit and redstone is provided and refreshed daily ...i like to use versel laga start plus ic breeding mix ,yes its expensive but i like its constitution and trust the company as have never had a bad bag yet ,had plenty farm corn harbouring mould though especially on the ears of the maize even had some maples that were mouldy ,wish i did have a trusty grain merchant/grower but none about here ...barley and wheat awful to ,very flat all husk no good to me ,if you can get a good clean mix at reasonable prices all well and good ,there is an odd occassion for good tic beans though and linseed ,also rape seed but i use very little rape seed so have no need to buy ...i add plenty groats to my breeding mix to in fact all year round atb |

| Yes this location does have advantages. No sprays on my lawn. The crops get sprayed. Had to shoot a dog few months ago. Just too far gone. Hard after 11 years or so. However life goes on. Set your goals and go for them. Takes out the boredom of life. All in the trying!! |

| Wifey is making use of my Loft! Wouldn't entertain the idea of Seed potatoes in Peat / fertiliser bags. Not a little dark corner for mushrooms. Mind needs to be a wide variety of Mushrooms to make it interesting.
Am toying with other as such.
Farmers graze sheep and cattle on upland peatland sites which helps to protect these habitats while producing high-quality British beef and lamb. Lowland peatland sites can be excellent for growing cereals, fruit and vegetables because of their fertile soils for instance.
For pots and containers, fill with plenty of Gro-Sure Vegetable Growing Compost to ensure enough nutrient levels. For an easy option, grow directly into one of our specialist planters, such as Gro-Sure Tomato Planter, or New Horizon All Very good.
Vegetables lend themselves well to container cultivation: Beetroot, Broad beans, Carrots, Dwarf French beans, Herbs, Peas, Potatoes, Radishes, Rocket, Runner beans, Chillies & Peppers, Salad leaves, Salad onions, Salad turnips, Tomatoes.
Legumes grow great and cheap1 |
