Niel a lot of stock is kept but they dont bred all good ones I keep them my self one year one pair will bred good ones the next year its another pair you will take a long time to bred a champion dont go running away with the idear because it comes from the stock loft its going to be a good bird thats not allways the case the only thing you will have blood you have got to find it.

It's all about the blood and if you have the correct blood lines then you stand a better chance of breeding a good pigeon

Was wondering if there is any similarities between the shape of an egg, and racing performance, eg. longer oval eggs, or more roundish eggs, shell thickness etc.

hi niel, would think things like shell condition/thickness etc would be defined by the diet, or lack of nutritions, vitamins, grits etc........

have heard.read that a lot of champion breeders/flyers repair their birds each year regardless of what they have already bred, good or bad.

You will find that longish eggs turn out most of the time cocks and the roundish ones are hens

i think next year i will swap round my stock birds regardless of what they have bred this year to see if they breed anything better.....? or to alter the closeness of the bloodlines so they arnt too closely related as i dont keep that many birds.

Very Happy I think I know what you mean, If I were to choose some eggs from a mates loft I would go for the whitest and cleanest, the largest and an egg which is distinctly different at both ends, like round and pointed at oposite ends. cheers
