| david have you thought about getting large buckets and filling them with concrete when dry use them to put your loft base on you can leave the concrete in the buckets longer lasting |

| if your going to pair up in feb take a littel bit of avice and get the loft up ASAP as you will be trying to mate broken birds into a new loft and try to fly them as well the longer you can have the loft up the better you and the birds you will find that a new loft it takes the birds time to ajust |

| never thought of this ian, i was going to do what i did with my other loft and build block walls from front to back which was four blocks long and spaced approx 1 metre apart.....i did it this way because the floor joists were running along the lenght of the loft, accross ways. |

the longer you can have the loft up the better you and the birds you will find that a new loft it takes the birds time to ajust yes i know what your saying ginger, the thing is tho the new loft will be to house my widowhood hens and my stock birds............the stock birds are not settled to me so how do you think they will react when moved into a new loft even though it will be fairly close to their loft they are in now as this will be took down to make way for the new loft. |

| yes ginger i agree, i will have to take the small stock shed down and house the four old cocks in with the 2010 birds for a week or so till i get the main part of the loft up.......then there is the matter of felting the roof which is a full days job, as i found out when my main loft was leaking during yb racing. |

| ah right, so is the tar/glue already on the back of the felt ? when i did my big loft i had a tin of black glue which i brushed onto the joints and rolled it on....but it took a good few hours of work and the roof was only 18 x 6 . |

| Yes its already to go just roll the lenth of the loft then roll it backwards mark the roof then you blowtorch it on along the mark it sounds hard but when you get use to it it goes up easy

| my garage roof is flat and a rrofer friend of mine did it with some blocks of tar which he warmed up in a big pot, he poured it on in liduid form and then rolled the felt onto it........this has been done for approx 7 years now and has been spot on, it wasnt cheap to do so i dont want to go to this sort of expense for the loft altho i would rather it be done right than try bodge it............... |
