anybody had a red hen with pencil marks, i have when i came back to the sport 11years ago

black fleks in the white usually on the tail and wings

my red cock has them the boys in our club says they are black splashes like the old day red pigeons if it make sense

Ian I know a chap down our way gareth will know him too, used to fly as john and jenkins fantastic flyers won 5th welsh national with a red hen called dawn 550 miles thurso on the day, she was a tiny red hen with the blck splashes, I had a youngster from her when I was 14 and it flew the channel for me twice a red cock, but he didnt have splashes.

I used to have a pigeon book with genetics on pigeons, it was brilliant told you about the colours and what to expect from different matings, the black splashes in a red or mealy means that there is grizzle in the family? and thats how it comes out its actually grizzle mutation, and if you look at grizzles thats the only time you will see splashes other than in red.

No I never drew a picture of it, but I did do one of a grizzle but I have it, I will have to show it to you, Im donating an oil painting this year for the club for bird of the year. Will be a bit different for members to win and It will give me an excuse to start painting again...lol

Yes David, but what Ian says is new to me also i have asked older fanciers and they say they have never seen this always black splashes with the cock bird

i have a red hen with some black flecks (not many) but dose have them had her for the last 2/3 years never raced her but you do get them on the rare accation
