It's getting cold.

I don't know if it's just me getting old, but I think today has been absolutely freezing up here in Southport. Have been busy building the nestboxes for geriatric squad, that I'm pairing up next week. I have made 12 and have got room for either another nine or a bullbox, haven't really decided yet what to do.

gary , down here in somerset its still really mild its about 14 in the day
me and the wife went out fri night and when we walked back home at about 10.30 pm we had to take our coats off it was that mild . cheers kev .

I'm envious. We've had a few touches of ground frost already and it's been getting down to around 3- 5c at night.

its cold here gary, weve also had a bit of frost on the car windscreen the other morning.............this morning its very cold and foggy/misty, just deciding weather to go to crowthers for new laysoft bedding............

its foggy here today damp and misrable and cold ffs beam me up

more bad news, no sugar for a brew...........think i`ll go to crowthers.

I got some stuff from a stall at Clitheroe Auction, the other week. Ive not seen the stuff for years. It's rape seed straw, treated with Citronella. It's soft and doesn't have bits that fly all over the place. But because of the citronella it will keep those nasty red mites at bay

When I was a trim 21 stone, I never felt the cold. But a combination of losing 7 stone and old age. Brrr, I feel every chill.
No sugar, nightmare, thats why it's always good to have manuka honey in. It's great in coffee.

morning gary, is it like ordinary straw ? i used straw before and altho its ok, if it gets damp it goes horrible and smelly.........i still use straw for nesting tho as i think its better for the birds, i dont seem to like these twig things some use, cant remember whats its called.....lol

think your right about jeeling the cold with agae gary, the last couple of years ive felt the cold more.........couldnt go back on a building site in the winter now like i did when i was younger.

Its much softer than barley straw and really absorbent. A lot of stables use it these days. I will only use it for nest boxes. As I never have anything on the floor.
Those twig things I think your talking about are tobacco stalks.
I always have my honey in coffee in a morning. I'm getting soft.

I used to be a steel erector in Germany for a while, I don't know how I ever survived the winter over there.

just got back, got the laysoft.....its 7 quid a bag now so gone up 50p, will be clearing the old out of the stock shed tomorrow and putting the new down so its nice and clean for pairin up time.

That's where I kept me first squeeker. It used to perch on the pipe nest to toilet systern and never flinched. Except when me Mum used to kick of about its droppings on the the seat, But it was too late once you sat in it.
