2012 ybs ...?

whats members views on ybs rung before the 1st of jan 2012, some members got their rings before christmas and rung the ybs before jan 1st............are they latebred 2011 birds ?

whats members views on this............

Most people that I know put the birds down at around the same time in these here parts, except for the darkness men.
So whether you got rings before Christmas or after Christmas, would be immaterial.
Splitting hairs, in all fairness, they in all honesty would be late, latebred's, or early hatched ybs.
I suppose it depends how you would care to look at it.

will you be putting your ybs on the dark gary ...?

if they were born in 2011 then in all honesty are last years birds and latebreds in my opinion

No mate, tried it once, disaster.
It's light for me mate all the way, they will see very little darkness.

what makes you say that gary, i tried it for the last 2 years and theres nothing that can go wrong, provided you cover and uncover at roughly the same time every day.........

It was the yb sickness side, I had never had until Steve and I went on darkness. It was horrendous. They also made poor yearlings.
Believe it or not I never have experienced it on the light system.
I also think that darkness birds suffer badly from from respiratory.
Just my opinion, but the light system has always worked well for me.

ah right, yes the first year i tried darkness my birds got yb sickness, this year i was on the dark and they didnt get it........i put this down to feeding light for a couple of weeks after coming off the dark, plus a couple of other things i did............
