| started my birds on the chicken pellets a few days ago, not sure if it was a good idea......... the droppings have changed from green tinged with white to brown and its like going into a chicken shed......... maybe should have just stuck to breeding mix, any thoughts ? |

| nothing wrong with it david i will be using them as well when i go and stock up on it i use it in a hopper they take what they want but i have a breeding mix in pots in the nest box as well stick with it cos they have all the vits in there your birds need droppings do change when you change your food i use red stone grit it firms the drooppings right up or you can use a little bit of table salt that does the same but not much . |

| I use them and my droppings are fine, pigeons digestion works just like ours and the food eaten affects the droppings in some way coulour, texture and consistancy but nothing to worry about. Just a change, but just give them in small amounts about 20% in a mixture is about right I would say. |

| David I use chicken pellets all the year round in a mix of corn in fact I have my mix of corn now for the whole of the season nothing special with peanuts in as well and I get results with that, the pellets you have they are layers pellets are they and not growers pellets I would say stick with them you will find the droppings will firm but you must give them a chance the only thing you will find is they drink more water, they are lot cheaper than pigeon pellets perhaps not the same stuff in them if you see anything wrong with the birds seek advice on what is wrong it will have nothing to do with the pellets |

| thanks for the help and advise all........so it seems theres no need to stop using them and they wont harm the ybs or the parents then .
what i didnt like about them was the droppings have changed from a nice green tipped with white, to a brown colour which are softer (but not watery} and a bit smelly compared to when feeding just corn. |

| yes pete, also heard this before too, anything destined for the table for human consumption cant have such things as anti biotics in them, altho like i say i have heard the same question discussed before regarding the chicken/turkey pellets....... altho when you think about it, it seems the powers that be dont really care what goes for human consumption, look at the horse burger scam....... |
