Odiaxere, Portugal, Sardoal 170 miles result

The Wind was very strong WSW so no combine honours were up for grabs this week. When the wind is like this and we race from Sardoal which is in the NW of Portugal the lofts on the East coast and East have a massive advantage and We (Vai and Vem) and the 3 lofts next to us in the allotment have the worst drop in our Club, never mind the Fed and Combine. That being said the birds performed remarkably well. We clocked our 1st pigeon almost 10 mins before the other 3 lofts right next to us saw a bird and we added a 2nd bird a (latebred yearling)almost another 3 mins before one of them got one and then a min or two after that we got 6 more at once so we had 8 in the clock and the other 3 lofts 1 bird between them.

Hi Darren thanks, the yearling in the Combine event is 2nd in the yearling combine the pair are over 30 mpm ahead of the 3rd bird with around 1,500 birds in the race but its velocity of 1095 mpm makes it either 8th or 9th from the liberation of over 12,000 birds. I have seen all the 22 different clubs results and I can confirm this, it is not yet officially on the site but should be in a week or so.

These results I have just posted are from the second race in our club from Sardoal. Thankfully we only race here once this season as due to the release point being to the WEST side of Portugal and the Monchique mountains being in the way of a straight flight and then the Very strong West wind blowing the birds East we and the 3 lofts next to us have the worst drop of all of the fanciers in all the 22 different clubs in the combine.

I sent a fresh 20 latebred yearlings this week one was our 2nd bird yesterday and next week I have another 20 new ones to test. I sent 2 Roland Jannsens last week and they both returned 1 classified and this week I sent 3 Roland Janssens and 1 was missing but 2 classified. The Yearling race is the third result on the post.

We have no chance in the fed and Combine this week as with most weeks we get West winds and the clubs closer to the Spanish Border clock before us and then we give them overfly time while our bird still has 30 mins to fly.
Once the racing gets a bit further here the release points are in Spain itself so everybody is WEST of the release point which makes it a more even playing field.

That being said we classified 32 different pigeons from a total of 70 sent, 15 to the main race as per the Limit , 35 to the club race as per the Limit and 20 yearlings as per the limit. Kev
