Odiaxere Result Benavente 375 miles SW wind

We sent 15 birds to this the first "Fundo" or "long" race of the season, 14 of the birds were having their first race over further than 250 miles as they were 2yo latebreds who began their race careers this season.

We calculated that the birds could do it around 7hours 10 mins to 7 hours 30 mins to our small compound of 4 lofts together all flying the same distance of 600km, after 7 hours and 15 mins we got a text to say a bird had clocked at 14.45 in Faro along the coast from us on the East side measuring 28 km less than us so we knew we had around 20 mins to get a bird to beat that one.

At 14.55 a bird arrived, circled once and trapped in one of the 3 lofts next to ours, 8 mins later another bird came and trapped for us at 15.03 so both the birds that came to our compound beat the bird in Faro which was a good sign. We clocked two more at 15.10 and 15.12 before they began raining in from everywhere at 15.27 on. We have classified 3 birds in the Club race and I reckon that we will be in the top 30 in the N Barlavento Federation and maybe top 50 in the Combine, time will tell but the birds did great and the main thing is they arrived in great shape

Thanks guys, yes we were pleased with their first attempt at a slightly longer trip and returns were great 13 of 15 back within one hour and 30 mins of the first bird. 1 never made it on the day and is still missing but that happens.
