By the looks of the weather for weekend I would like the race cancilled till next week it dosnt look good at all

Let's just hope common sense prevails etc Ginger, if the weather is on the grim/crap side. Pigeons will be happy to wait another week I would say. They also have cancelled our race today down here across the water "Strong winds & rain". Always pays to show a bit of patience, when water comes into play.

I agree if the weather is really that bad as you say Ginger. They are up at 8am today in the OLD hens and YB national so it will be interesting to see how they get on. The weather in Ypres is good for the morning and afternoon and the weather at Calais is good, the weather in the UK from Folkstone is similar to todays weather where the Old hens and YB National decided to liberate. Lets hope the birds have a decent race and there are a few day birds should the race take place as it probably will.
Looks as though the National Flying club have had a great race. 368 YBs clocked so far by 14.00 hrs or so.

Kev fast times from both the youngsters and old hens

The Somerset birds are up at 7.30am into Blue skies and No wind to speak of, everything that can be done to have a good race has been done, the weather has been kind so good luck to all, its up to the birds now.

kevin why didnt you put that up 2 min befor it would have saved me a week writing my 2 lines out, well done and good luck

We can only live in hope Don it`s in the lap of the god, they are up so there is nothing we can do

Yes I reckoned on around 40mph so 7 hours or so, Nothing in the North Coast Classic in Ireland reported yet either, they were expected between 13.00 and 13.30 hrs.

Yes 13.48 so its made great time and 15 are already back. Well done to M. Watts the champion of the Somerset OLR. Nothing yet reported in Irelands North Coast Classic. but plenty of time for more birds to arrive at both races today.
Well done to Terry and Jane Willians at Somerset for conditioning the birds for a channel crossing and No excuses for birds that do not make it today.

Just had a look and at the moment there are 15 birds recorded well done to them recorded hope more return

Plenty tme yet still today, the 10% that have made it by 16.00hrs have proven that it is easily possible if the birds are up to the job. Its all about if the Ybs face the water first time when they hit it or do they wait to cross until hunger drives them over. Last year we were 7th acebird this year 6th acebird and our only yearling entry finished 12th acebird crossing twice after his arrival on day 3 as a Yb, it shows not all no matter how well they race inland will face the water first time of asking.
Hopefully we will both get a day bird Ginger there is plenty of tme.
I have birds here in Portugal that will cross but I cannot get them to the UK for reasonable time for the birds travelling and expense for me sending them, its so frustrating, due to geographical position.
Next year I may go for the Algarve Golden race and use my tougher pigeons bred here, time will tell.

Well it looks like my year has been ended all most like it started very very dismal to say Im a bit downhearted I think its a understatment I am raely pissed off I hope it dont get much worse cos I will de haveing eggs that wont hatch

Thanks G at least you have had some birds back from the young birds Iv had one the next day young birds for me this year has been a total disaster this has set back four years

When I think of it I dont think there is more than 6 young birds that has flown 70 miles this year on the day we have some thing going on around our Island I dont no what it is but its doing a very good job

could be hawks out at sea birds didnt leave 2 weeks ago were they pushed back
and you not getting them are they being attacked as they arrive
there was a case last year some where and the hawks were pushing the birds out to sea many landing on ships scared to death

yes I remember that was off the coast near whitby

62 birds back by 10.20 am day 2, we got one at 07.19am Eyesign 101 bird bred from our Yearling that was 12th acebird. All these birds have shown they have the guts and determination to cross the channel. Hopefully more will return.
