any one use butter milk

whats members thoughts on useing butter   milk or for that matter milk in general    sean

don't think it's the same to-day as 60 years ago

been told its good for birds but never tried it

What is !!!!!!!!   . (60 years ago) I can still remember the day I drank milk straight out of a cow for the first time, as a wee lad (Hot & frothy) & I was as sick as a dog type of thing. The owner    of the cow (a pigeon flyer) just laughed etc, but I learnt a good lesson    of what real milk is & it's not what you get out of a bottle type of thing.

I have heard much about it for the moult but tbh the poultry spice and oil seeds are doing the job just nicely ...first year I have used the spice and well impressed £5 sorted

butter milk does speed the moult up gets the darkies through it quicker
milk is a good crop cleanser as long as you only put enough in the drinker for them to sip it other wise u get greasey wattles    u dont have  to pay a fortune for the right gear   sean

I no the show boys use butter milk to get the show birds through the moult ready for the show and I no of some fanciers use it to get the birds to moult quick after a fortnight its all finished no more feathers in the loft, I personly wouldent use it for that reason if a bird does not get through the moult properly its not much good it will allways be weak get rid a moult is not hard for pigeons its a natrule thing to do, fit birds have no problems with it.

i take your point on board ginger but i think you have missed mine   Darkies are so far behind they  need to be speeded up or they will not moult completely   most darkies  3wks ago had only dropped 1-3 nest flights    sean

Your right Sean it does get them through the moult the darkies, I have had mine on the dark not this year but last year and I took them of it on the 21st of june they went through allright Iam not condeming it mate but what ever you do or wont I just think it should not upset the moult that one of the things a good moult is the making of the pigeon thats your start for next year, thats what I think anyway, dont forget Im a stubin old bugger like I was saying I no fanciers that do it and they do very well very good luck to them I suppose Im too lazy to do it.

ginger I never had darkies this year and my young ins flew well I was just pointing out how to get them through the moult atb cheers sean
