| Yep thats true has the knuckle on the legs grows to big ; But you can get a plastic clip ring ;some are Coloured & some are Numbered from most pet shops ;that fold or clip around there legs that will do the job on Older Birds ;you could use pink on the girls & Blue on the Boys ;to keep it simple ; Best of luck in your new venture ; cheers |

| young pigeons are usually rung around 6 - 7 days old....sometimes it is possible to get the ring onto a yb a couple of days later, but you would have to use a lubricant such as washing up liquid etc.
welcome to the site..... |

| Jessica when you come to ring your young pigeons, first you have to join a club, or you can get them from the RPRA, after 6 or 7 days when you come to put he rings on you have to put the ring over the three front toes the slide the ring over them when you have the ring back enough to see the back toe you have to get it out from inside the dont worry too much about hurting the bird the legs at this age it is very supple, if you can get the ring over the four toes it is too early and you will have to leave it another day, this is all done by not pulling to hard, and if the bird is rung to early the ring will come off and the old birbs will thruogh it out of the nest, I have tried to make as clear as I can for you I hope this helps, buy the way as one of the lads have said you cannot put a closed metal ring on a old bird you can only put plastic clip rings on |
