fancier near me has the radio on during the day rene, would have thought it was to get them used to noises etc, to relax them maybe...? he says its partly so they cant hear each other cooing.....

When racing widowhood the radio can help keep them carm during the day, the reason is because if you are working around the loft the cocks do not get disturbed

If the loft area is quiet you go by the loft make a noise the cocks start calling and are unsettled, when you need them settled to save energy

when i raced before we had widows at the front of the loft which were emulsioned white on the inside so it would slightly darken the loft to keep them calm and stop them being distracted by things outside........

But ifthe loft area is very quiet them the cocks have more chance of being disturbed, but with the radio this help keep the carmness in the loft and any sudden noise has a lower chance of up setting the cocks

yes i think you are right there don, altho i think its best they get used to normal everyday noises as even if one day a certain noise spooks them they seem to get used to things fairly quickly....

With having a radio the pigeons stay more carm even with different sounds going on around them and the loft

But no radio any sound will spook the birds and they will never settle as they do hearing the radio on they come accustem to noise
